I didn't mean pubs. Just drinking in general.Franky wrote:Yeah? There are plenty of adults that don't enter pubs, ever. Also, pubs scare the shit out of me.

I always enjoy a good Canadian rye wiskey, usually something like Wisers or Gibsons, as they are very smooth. Beer is always a choice, though not American beer.odditude wrote:i'll drink to that!Franky wrote:ok, I'm not even going to say anything now.

for those who DO drink, what are your drinks of choice?

Hmm. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to mock people on the internet, though staying away from alcohol is not one of them I think (franky seems to be more scared of social situations and other people than of getting drunk though, and I don't think I've heard much worse reasons than his for not drinking.)
I'm like the most unmanly guy I know when it comes to drinking.
I drink cider, because I hate the taste of bear, and more concentrated stuff gets me drunk too quickly.odditude wrote:for those who DO drink, what are your drinks of choice?

Well, I said before saying I don't like pubs that I don't drink alcohol anyway. But if you want to know what drinks I like (if you count "drink" as just water, milk, etc); coca cola, orange/apple/pineapple juice, milk, water.for those who DO drink, what are your drinks of choice?
Well, to be honest I do often feel anxious around large groups of people. I also have serious problems when trying to socialize. I feel better with the people I know, when I'm with like 2 or 3 other people. The only people I really relate to are my parents, brothers, and other family members that I know very well (my two grandma's, two grandads, various cousins, aunts, uncles, etc).Hmm. Now, my anxiety around people... is only worse when I'm around large groups of people that are drunk.
(well, this is probably the biggest reason that I don't like pubs).
It's not that I don't like other people; I just don't know how to deal with them.
For me, trying to socialize is like trying to speak russian.
I'm able to talk to people... but only about a few different things. Well, it's hard to explain, but I am very good at anylising things, and thinking about things. I'm good at discussing, just not socializing.
(PS: I'm not scared of alcoholic beverages,I just don't like pubs. The reason that I don't drink, is simply that I just don't like the taste).

Admitting you have a problem is the first step. We're proud of you.Johan_H wrote:I'm like the most unmanly guy I know when it comes to drinking.

Anyway, my normal favorites are liquid heroin and jager bombs for shots, blue moon for relaxing, miller lite for tailgating (it tastes like water but it drinks like water too), and any variety of vodka, rum, and Jack mixes for extended parties. i enjoy sharing a bottle of riesling or port with the lady, too.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
don't worry, i think we've all got the idea.Franky wrote:It's not that I don't like other people; I just don't know how to deal with them.

Socializing is a necessity of a life so you'll have to learn to handle it somehow. Spend more time trying to understand others, e.g. when you're talking to someone you don't know very well, ask them questions instead of just sitting there responding to whatever is directed at you. To get better at something you have to spend time doing that thing, you'll never get better at social situations by avoiding them.
If it's a really serious issue for you, you should probably go see a psychologist.
Acting like moron on internet forums is probably not going to get you anywhere either.

Christ I'm all over the board when it comes to alcohol.
I'm 21. I could drink if I wanted to. They still confuse the fuck outta me.byuu wrote:Offtopic much? The main reason for the laws are to help stop college kids from driving drunk. They'd have more success by raising the driving age to 21 instead, and let kids get drunken partying out of the way before they can drive, but as you can imagine that'd be quite the strain since we expect kids to start working at 16 here.I.S.T. wrote:Drinking laws in the US will confuse me until I die, even if they've been fixed.
But to be honest, you're really not missing much.

Beer (Several brews, including dark beer)
Tequila Shots
Bacanora (Some sort of stronger Tequila that is only sold here in Sonora)
John Collins
Several kinds of Martinis
Whisky with mineral water
Brandy with coke
Mojitos
Vodka Tonic
Screwdrivers
And I still have a lot of drinks left to try, but chances are, as long as it's not tequila mixed, I'll drink it.
And I started drinking when I was 17, and I started quite late around here.

Much like Franky, I have never/plan to, enter a bar/pub.
I'm still only 17 so am not allowed to drink yet in oz, but I don't even like the taste of beer/other alcohol.
Like Franky, I'd rather go and buy coke.
*Puts money in machine* *Slurp* Ahh.... *Belch*

Because most people have social anxiety problems, but with a few drinks, that all goes away.
Personally, I don't drink due to A. Medication that would basically KILL me if I drank.
B. Never really liked the taste.
C. More than one person I'm related to by blood has been an alcoholic. I'm not gonna risk that.
D. My father was an alcoholic for a while, and I remember what it did to him.
A and C are the foremost reasons. I'm sure I could find a drink I'd like(Wine, probably). I also don't think I'd be the same type of alcoholic my dad was(He was self-medicating for a then undiagnosed Bipolar Disorder. I've been checked for that, and do not have it.).

Besides my anxiety around people, I have another reasons for not liking the idea of pubs (and alcohol in general) though:
Alcohol is evil (just look at what it does to people; some might become alcoholic, but then in cities where there are lots of pubs around, and lots of people, there is often violence on hte street; I predict that if everyone stopped drinking alcohol and no one produced it anymore, that crime would drop about 20 percent (then again, it would create a black market, much like during the prohibition era in america, resulting is something similar to what you hear about drugs being sold to people in that black market, which would give scum-of-the-earth criminals (that shouldn't be allowed to live) power over people, in the same way that power is given to dangerous criminals that sell drugs).
Let me tell you; if alcohol was discovered today, instead of hundreds of years ago, no civilized country in the world would allow it. Then again, alcohol can be used as a fuel for engines (if I recall from my past-gone history lessons I used to take, the germans used alcohol as fuel in a lot of the vehicles they used in world war 1), so I suppose it would be allowed for that purpose, just not for human consumption.
