For Doom, it's a shitty port. You could do better on a PC than what you saw on the console, seriously.
Well, you're correct; the SNES version of Doom is shitty; for a SNES game though, it's still good.
But, I have Doom on the PS1, and it's identical to the PC version. It's awesome.

There are some differences.

You best be joking about the PSX version being identical.

Yeah really, who doesn't know where everything is in E1M1. That's like having a walk through of the first level of super mario brothers. I guess I could of found some better videos, but it didn't seem worth it.

Fuck, I had no idea about that last goddamn elevator. Not having all of the secrets on that first level has pissed me off since 1997, and I've been too embarrassed(at myself) to go look up an FAQ.

Really? I thought you were joking. It just kinda seemed like something everyone who's played doom would of known. OOps. D:

that secret should be fairly obvious (if you had sound on) since you can hear it being triggered as you cross a threshold.

Well ok then, I take that statement back. Though now that I think about it, the PSX version is better; better music, better sound effects, etc.

Better sound effects and music? They've raped the worlds best shotgun sound in the ear! As well as replaced the classic and wonderful midi soundtrack with "lol ambience".

I think that the changes they made for the PSX port of Doom were great, although I do miss some of the old Doom music. Still I don't think that the new soundtrack is all bad; it's sets the mood quite well.

Overall, the PSX port of Doom is one of the best ports ever made.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I like most of the sound effects better in the PSX version, but not all.

I dunno if I'd prefer one version over the other.

However, Ultimate Doom is another story entirely...

I would definitely disagree since it used the lame as hell Jaguar levels.
