ZSNES Freezes on Loading

Post by LoveShock »

I am running Slackware 12.2 and ZSNES was running fine till i plugged in a new game pad for my playing experience. It's a gamepad similar to a PS2 controller if that helps. If I unplug the game pad ZSNES runs fine with no problem. What I don't understand though when I first got it and plugged it in it work fine for a couple hours and now I am running into all sorts of problems. Why? :?:

Some slightly useless advice you probably already know:
You need to close ZSNES, then plug in your USB device, then restart ZSNES. If you plug in the USB device while ZSNES is running, it won't be able to use it.

then something is wrong with your computer in its current configuration.

Alright:

Try cat /dev/input/js0 in a terminal.

If you get an error even with the controller plugged in try replacing the 0 with 1, 2, 3, or 4. You should see garbage output on your terminal.

did you actually bother to press some of the buttons? forgot to mention this, my bad >_<

also the garbage output doesn't matter when it comes to posting it. it'll appear random garbage. As long as you get the garbage output in your terminal, then we know the controller works.

OK, so we can rule out the controller being defective..

Maybe try plugging it into another USB port and reset the keys?

btw, in the key config you should click keyb/joystick before configuring anything, just so you know.

i was adjusting the sound frequency to get better sound out of zsnes and i adjusted it to the different levels to see which one would give me better sound and i hit 2200 something and it crashed and closed my zsnes so i tried to reload zsnes and now all that comes up is a black screen any idea's?????????????????

When you make changes in the sound frequency via the GUI, you need to restart ZSNES.

Otherwise, you can try compiling with libao support and see if that helps out.
