Originally you had just posted you liked blackmyst's the best so far, which is fair and fine. Then you went back and edited your post to basically bitch me out over my style. Thanks a lot, but let me address a few things first:FitzRoy wrote:I like blackmyst's the best so far.
Firebrand's is quite large and the letters are like 5% of the logo. I also think combining digital art with a photographed object looks strange. blackmyst also gets bonus points for doing his own drawing.
...I don't care what you call it, something with photorealistic detail looks odd next to a cartoon character. I don't understand what the controller dpad adds to anything anyway, it just blocks his face and it doesn't resemble a controller with or without it.
1. While the letters are small, it had to be that way for the concept I had in mind. If I had made the buttons giant, it would have looked weird. Aside from that, I plan on doing alternates where the buttons are the main focus on a different design made for a banner type image.
2. What do you mean by photographed object? Everything in the image is an actual 3D model. I tried my best to imitate the plastic textures from the SNES controller hardware, but they are not just photographs.
3. The concept of rendering 3D models is its own type of art, and its actually quite difficult compared to sketching. The completed model took me several hours of work. So saying you feel blackmyst gets bonus points for doing his own drawing is basically saying you disapprove of every 3D rendering artist out there. I guess all I can say to that is that's your opinion.
4. The cartoon image was an attempt to make it look like it was painted on, like a custom controller concept might have.
5. The cross pad was just part of the hardware interface theme. Again, your gripe about this is your opinion, but honestly I'm beginning to think you just tried to come up with as many complaints as you could to bitch me out because you already hate me over the scanline debate. If you had just left it with your vote in this thread like you originally did, that would have been fine and fair as I said, but I can't just stand by while you go back and edit posts to bitch me out. Thanks, but no thanks on that.
One last thing: If you've got the balls to make your own logo, unlike you, I won't try to nitpick everything about it just to be an ass to someone I'm at odds with. If the logo you make is good, I wouldn't hesitate to give you props for it.

Firebrand, I like yours the best.
Some possible improvements:
Make the dpad and buttons the correct proportional sizes relative to each other and to the controller as a whole. It looks like the border of the image takes cues from the color and curvature of each side of the SNES controller. So, based on the curvature, make the d-pad and buttons the right relative size.
That way it looks more like a controller that someone modded.

Somewhat clean and simple. That's how I feel about the SNES in general, at least. :}
EDIT: 2nd attempt.

Here was the banner concept I was originally working on before I tried for the crosspad theme:

My apologies to Fritzroy for blowing a gasket on him earlier. I just felt like I was being unfairly attacked after working for quite some time on the image.

Firebranx, theres no image... and doktor_chris, that looks like something from Windows 95 >.>" and I don't like it and FirebrandX, the "buttons" look like round balls which makes it look... odd.

Ah that must be what's going on there. Actually that's pretty cool to adblock images. I can see it preventing a lot of spamming techniques.
Anyway, here's the link to the jpg version, though I'm sure it doesn't matter now since it was the adblock feature:

Do you want an icon along with the logo? This might (or might not?) be difficult with the current choices.

I had this idea for a logo for TE once but it might work for bsnes as well. The idea was to have something like speedometer of a car with needle at hundred. Instead of KM/H or Miles/H you can put some sort of accuracy/compatibility unit. And since byuu still wants that pixel based PPU despite the compatibility you can write "Still Need More" alongside that
.
EDIT:
BTW, Where did Frankys logo go?

"Taste the rainbow"
With regards to the buttons, I could use some pointers on how to shape them better if people would prefer. I was sort of guessing on the roundness since I don't have a controller on hand. Its easy enough to make new buttons. The colors are taken from the super famicom button colors (with the exception of the purple).
