Help! Is there a way to actually save your game?

Post by SharkofSomerton »

Hi, Im new to the boards so sorry if this is old news. I just use zsnes for fun (snes rpg's rule!) so I dont know much about the technical aspects of it. All I'm wondering is if it is possible to save your game forever? I know how to use save states but everytime I exit ZSNES I lose them and cant boot them back up.. Can someone give me a step by step instruction on just how to save my game? thanks for the help!

Zsnes is supposed to save by default, there must be something wrong from your end.

Are you running zsnes or the roms from a cd?

Is the folder from where you are running the roms read only?

Im not playing them off a cd; Im just using roms that I got from the internet. They each have their own folder, so I just go into the folder to select whatever game Im going to play and it comes up on zsnes by itself. Do I have to make a new file for the saves themselves? Im really new to this.

you need to do three things. first, you're going to need to adjust the association you made to zsnes - instead of having it run zsnes directly, have it run a link (shortcut) to zsnes that defines the starting directory as your zsnes dir. if you don't do that, strange things may (and probably will) happen in terms of where zsnes saves everything (config files, sram, save states).

second, define a save dir in config/paths.

third, make sure that dir is not read-only.
Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.
