No such thing as CD-quality MP3. MP3 is a lossy compression format, and a not-very-high-quality one at that.Deathlike2 wrote: I'm very aware of that... it's been used since Diablo or Starcraft (not sure any earlier, but meh). I was hoping for CD Quality MP3s, but I guess I can't really tell much of a difference.
Vote for me, and I will ban 128-kbit music files.
VBR MP3 with 192kbps minimum, thanks.Gil_Hamilton wrote:No such thing as CD-quality MP3. I should've said "insert your favorite compression here". God forbid I am to be taken literally when I just want good audio.Gil_Hamilton wrote:No such thing as CD-quality MP3. It would be really nice to have the checksums for the English builds.snkcube wrote:http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx

I'm using it now.
I am amused that MS has STILL not disabled the old Win3.1 control menu in the top-left corner of every window. Including the base Explorer windows that have no icon up there.
Spoilers: Double-click the top-left corner for a SUPER-SEKRIT EASTER EGG!
Anyone that comes back griping at me is a total noob.

it's necessary to manipulate windows (move/resize/minimize/maximize/restore) with the keyboard alone. yay for alt-space-m/s/n/x/r!Gil_Hamilton wrote:I am amused that MS has STILL not disabled the old Win3.1 control menu in the top-left corner of every window. Why yes, my shift key *IS* broken.

They've considered Windows a mouse-required interface since 1995.odditude wrote:it's necessary to manipulate windows (move/resize/minimize/maximize/restore) with the keyboard alone. yay for alt-space-m/s/n/x/r!Gil_Hamilton wrote:I am amused that MS has STILL not disabled the old Win3.1 control menu in the top-left corner of every window. And there's no reason to maintain the double-click-to-close functionality other than my personal amusement every time I convince someone to try it.

(Actually, I use that functionality, depending on which side of the window my cursor is closer to.)
windows "best practice" is still to have every app fully navigable by keyboard, whether or not most users actually make use of that functionality.Gil_Hamilton wrote:They've considered Windows a mouse-required interface since 1995.odditude wrote:it's necessary to manipulate windows (move/resize/minimize/maximize/restore) with the keyboard alone. yay for alt-space-m/s/n/x/r!Gil_Hamilton wrote:I am amused that MS has STILL not disabled the old Win3.1 control menu in the top-left corner of every window. i use the abovementioned menu constantly, for minimize/maximize/restore via keyboard.
