hai, i am nub to emulators
downloaded torrent that i was told installed a copy of zsnes and rom of final fantasy 3, and so i figured i'd come here to seek advice.
game loads, but it just goes to the beginning movie sequence rather than the load and new game options *-*
keys unresponsive other than the emulator menu
i'm assuming this is a problem with the rom?
any advice as to what i should do would be appreciated :]
The game is working EXACTLY as it's supposed to.
You WILL NOT go to the new game/load game screen on your first run.
The game will hit the title screen, then go straight into the intro sequence. Just kick back, relax, and enjoy the sweet mode 7 credit sequence while you hype yourself up to raze Narshe to the ground. Okay?
I have the original cart. I thought it was a neat touch, really.

To expand on this, unless you save the game at least once, you won't go to the new game/load game screen.
Barring that, to get past the initial credits scene, press A at any time. Just getting this out of the way before we have post number 39482908 on that subject.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours? NSRT here.

That was also the case with FF4 and I'm not seeing any people asking about it.
The main issue is that the normal demo is TOO CLOSE to the real game intro. Confusing as hell.
Also pressing start doesn't start a game. Could be that too.
Smart game design 101: if your game intro is already a cutscene, don't use the same cutscene for the input-less demo.

The problem is that it's probably the 3948208th post on the subject.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on? sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.
Here's what I don't get...
I, and tens of thousands of other people, figured it out on RealSNES. How can it be HARDER to figure out on an emulator with a fast-forward key?

Because these days you have the newest generation of gamers that are used to prompts that say PRESS BUTAN TO ADVANCE
this would explain why some of them get frustrated with super mario bros. 3 and similar, since there's no life meter and they die by side colliding with the enemy.

The new generation of hour-long intro sequences and walls of cutscenes?

those as well
oh well, IIRC in twighlight princess and (I think?) FF12 you can skip the cutscenes.. of course you'd have to press some buttons there, but hey.
