Leaked. My. Ass.
no it really actually is, I just torrented it, and it's the same as the videos that the official team is posting on youtube, so far looks legit. I knew it wouldn't be long when the original release date of the hack came around. I doubt there is gonna be any legal action, the lawyers at SE don't know how to torrent and rename a rom.
of course there would be a big problem if a news site put an article of it up, then they'd be in seriously deep shit.
heh, they have a plug for ZSNES in the game, nice.

Legal action would hurt more (someone's probably gonna go away for a while), although by then, you couldn't actually stop the chaos.
Good reason why not to put your name on the project. Don't even distribute it via normal home source distribution methods. It should just magically appear on the various bit torrent networks.
Oh that? How should I know? It's made by some dude named "Crono-Fan-Man", we got no one here by that name...

I was playing a bit of this. The script definitely wasn't perfect (I doubt Frog would say "crap"), but I guess the story is acceptable. My big problem is with the game balance for fights. I died in my first battle, and those initial enemies take too many freaking hits. I am almost certain that grinding will be necessary to proceed, as my first level up did not increase Magus' physical strength that much.
<pagefault> i'd break up with my wife if she said FF8 was awesome

it's definately not professional, They did seem to confuse the personality of Frog. The American Frog would most likely say "Curses" while the Japanese one would probably say "Shit" this doesn't really fit either of those, never-the-less they seem to keep canon of the game consistant even if the style of writting is different.
The battles are a little odd getting into but I think the idea is to pick up from the difficulity of the end of Chrono Trigger, which wasn't that hard to begin with. You can beat the monsters with magus in those first fights without grinding, you just have to be strategic and not pull the final fantasy tactic of mashing "A A A"

While this version has a lot of the dialogue and events skeletoned out and rough versions of all the maps, it predates the over 2,000 bug fixes and improvements made during the beta testing cycle. It's also missing a number of more significant features, such as several of the new endings, the dialogue for a lot of the sidequests, and some of the mini-games. There are also a number of known showstopper bugs that freeze the game or make it unplayable past certain points in the early alpha that were carefully caught and fixed in the beta-testing cycle. As you can imagine, we're quite embarrassed that such an early version of the game has been leaked, since it lacks all of the polish and refinement from the months of hard work and hundreds of playthroughs done by the beta testers and developers.

Then again, is this something to really fuss over? I think even zealous CT fans are trying too hard to make noise... and of the wrong type.
it's what got them into this shitstorm in the beginning, if they had just quietly released it on RHDN without any fanfare like everyone else then they never would have had this problem.

I think they would have had this problem, but not to the same level, and perhaps in a more favorable light. Right now it's just propaganda, to a project that I'm sure was nearly finished, but ultimately a project that is perhaps arguably as flawed as the LOZ: Parallel Worlds hack, even though it may be as polished. If one were to go about it normally and go in a "best case/ideal scenario", you would have the proper fan impact (which by their lofty, yet kinda grand goal of being pretty high) and would have the impact they have suggested. Right now, I believe it simply reeks of sheer fanboyism and weed smoking to come to such a conclusion that they would have had an impact... it's hard to reach such a goal when you are becoming some sort of media attention whore. It should be good on its own, w/o having broadcasted to the world that "we're that good".
I've been watching the playthrough videos. Looks like they had fixed pretty much everything I thought was odd or buggy in the demo. It has an interesting plot and rather well written dialogue. It would have been nice to play, but if the 98% version is never leaked, watching those videos is enough for me.

... Just kidding. We'd rather brag about what you'll never see :P
And of course, I'm also just having fun. Not saying that's what actually happened.
