Super Mario All Stars not functioning

This game loads up and lets me choose the particulkar game that I want to play. However, when I select te game it goes to the screen where you choose the save file. While I am here both start and select toggle the dash on the gamepad. None of the buttons on the gamepad actually select the save and allow you to play the game. I checked the gamepad/input data and both start/select have different buttons selected. This is frusatrating

To start a game from the save, you need to use the A button (or whatever that is mapped to on your gamepad or keyboard) IIRC to actually start something.

i reinstalled zsnes. everything works fine
