will any (console controller) to usb convertor work w/ zsnes

Gamepad acting up? Keyboard not responding properly? Can't get that other user to work? Read and post about it here.

will any (console controller) to usb convertor work w/ zsnes

Post by sammy »

I am looking at getting a super joy box 5 pro (hooks up 4 ps2 controllers) to use with emulators and was wondering if there are any compatibility issues with zsnes?

should i assume that if it works with one emulator (haven't tried it w/ any) it would work for others?

I'm looking for a user-friendly way to hook up a controller w/ analog and a reliable d-pad for 4 player games (especially bomberman) ;)

If Windows sees it (and all of the buttons), it should be fine for the most part.

Ok then (thank you for your response),

Now..also, should i assume that if I plug in any console controller, let's say the n64 controller through a usb adapter, and windows recognizes it, I will be able to remap any of the buttons to what i want inside of zsnes?

I suppose i am sort of specifically asking about the N64 controller since I would like to remap and use the smaller, yellow directional buttons to the right of the A and B buttons on the controller and i'm not sure since they were designed to be used as a directional input.

p.s. i'm wondering what you might be referring to when you said
it should be fine for the most part
thanks again.

Yes, if Windows properly detects all buttons/axes on the controller.

As far as ZSNES is concerned, it doesn't see an N64 controller, it just sees an input device with a number of buttons and axes that can be freely assigned to emulate any buttons on the emulated SNES controller.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

It means that ZSNES has had random, untracable, unreproducible* problems with random, unpredictable hardware configurations in the past.
So no one makes any guarantees about anything.

alright thank you. you are all very helpful; thanks for taking the time i appreciate it.

i think i've decided to go w/ the super joy box 5 pro (unless ppl are reporting that isn't reliable for some reason, as in the dual action game pad having remapping issues from what i've read on the forum) instead of an adapter for n64 controllers. the analog stick is probably of higher quality on a ps2 controller.

thanks guys.
