No audio in movie dumps

Post by Clefaria »

First of all, you guys need to upload the LAME codec you want people to use elsewhere. Its former home was a Geocities site, and Geocities doesn't even exist anymore. :P

Anyway, I apparently had the lame encoder hanging around from a previous install, so I tried recording a short movie then dumping it. Problem is, the audio seems to be dumped properly file-wise, but when I watch the video, it is silent. When I don't merge the audio and video, the audio file is silent when thrown in Winamp.

Any idea why?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I "fixed" it and remembered having this issue before, too. If the ZSNES window is not 'focused' while it's encoding, the audio will not be encoded, for some strange reason. Every moment it's not focused, it's silent. I uploaded the result of me clicking back and forth between the mencoder window (which is what takes focus away from ZSNES while encoding to begin with) while encoding to my Mediafire; see the result for yourself: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mfj2zqzelh5

EDIT2: I replaced my lame.exe with the one from here (the issue above occurred with both the old and new LAME), and it worked fine (in the context of the above error): http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundl ... me-current You guys may want to point new users toward that instead of the Geocities link.

Could have fooled me, from the response it got.

There must be some way to fix it, even if just a workaround. Maybe mencoder can be set to not steal focus from zsnes?

The response you got was likely because it might be in a FAQ somewhere already.

There is one FAQ about movie dumping, and it's not mentioned there. If it's mentioned anywhere else, it's written about in the wrong place.
