Actually, it seems mostly to be an "emulation rocks fuck accuracy" rant.sweener2001 wrote:that was mostly just you bragging about your computer. which is cool and all, but it's not really.

The relevant part is that he's using an xbox controller.

for everything, apparently.
i think if i picked up one of the 360 controllers with the fancy d-pad, i'd be set for emulation purposes. i can't play mario world with a stick.

Playing 2D platformers on a stick is weird for me. My brain tells me to use a d-pad.

Analog thumbstick is WAY too loose for that.
To be fair, so's the 360 d-pad.
Now, get me a proper digital joystick, and I'll rock your faces off.

dualshock2. same layout as a snes pad, plus L2/R2 for ffwd/slo-mo, the L3/R3 buttons for menus, and the right thumbstick for volume.
unlike some people, i love the psx dpad - although they can be BRUTAL on the thumbs in some fighting games.

Re: Favorite controllers for ZSNES?
I have used several over the years, and settled on buying a dual SNES to USB adapter and a couple of official SNES pads, I had spent soo much money trying to get that "feel" back I thought I might as well, before that, I was using a dual PSX to USB adapter and a Logitech PS1 controller that was surprisingly comfy! I also recently bought an XBOX 360 like PC controller from China for £6, it arrived and I am pleasantly surprised with it for the price, considering it works on my PS3!
Although I have PC controllers and various Playstation to USB adapters, nothing will beat watching an old friends face light up when you hand him an original SNES pad for a 2 player at MARIO KART, No need to explain what button is mapped where it is all instinctive! Only thing I will say is that after a few hours of gaming my big man hands get cramped and I find my self using the 360 clone for comfort.
Here is a pic.
