Can two players control the same controller over netplay?

I've tried a few different things to get around it, but nothing has worked so far. Basically, my friend and I want to play through RPGs together. Some RPGs like FF5 let you switch control of certain characters over to another port, but not all of them do. If we could just map both our controllers to port 1, we could just manage it ourselves. I didn't notice any way to do this in ZSNES. I tried using the option that maps controllers 3 and 4 to 1 and 2, but that hasn't worked for me. I tried to think of a way using hamachi or some other external program that would let me do it, but I've come up short. Is there a way to do this within ZSNES, and if not, do any of you know another way to pull it off?

I'm not sure what you're asking, and your sig bothers me. I want both clients to be able to control the first player.

Because he's trying to force multiplayer down the throat of a single-player game. High-tech fancy-pants way of passing the controller.
