There is something that I forgot to say to mudlord. The fact that, when I was angry after what byuu did, I was talking to mudlord a lot; I thought he was cool. I sent a hate PM to byuu telling him that he was a homo, fag, whatever I coud think of. I just wanted to hurt his feelings, even if the gesture was childish.

Shortly after (after that thread here where I pushed him some more in that bsnes bug thread), I regretted it. I tried emailing him, I tried faking my way onto his forum (for the second time time) for the sole purpose of sending him one PM and never returning. They were attempts to apologize.

I apologize to both byuu and Derrick Sobodash (I sent him one too). I honestly dont remember what I said to D, but it was nasty. He's had it tough; living in poverty in Michigan, the move to China.. I believe I called him an arrogant bastard or something..

I kept trying to tell myself that it was OK, rationalizing that I was in the right. But,
I fucked up. I know that I had done something wrong.

I still resent how I was treated bf both of them before I sent those PMs, but I should have never sent those PMs. They were spiteful and I apologize.

Unfortunately I cannot swat here, by that I mean re-editing my posts and censoring the posts written by those who would dare ridicule me. Not like me, disagree with me, fine, but at least treat me with respect. If I had been patient and not assumed that Brad blocked me on MSN, I would have still sent him the other messages but I would have never posted here. This time its serious, I will not return. I'm dome with emulation in general anyway. My brief activity here is a hangover from the old days, and now that is gone.

Coincidentally, someone wrote that they "missed" me. that, in context, is a derogatory thing to say. I was not responding to them. The irony is in the misjudgment of the situation that led to my decision to come back. I didnt even fucking need to; the man I wanted to reach was still available.

Making this thread is akin to "nailing the coffin".

Pulseaudio and OSS are kind of different things. Pulseaudio sits on top of OSS or ALSA )or whatever else, including network stuff) and OSS is just the driver. I didn't have good luck with OSS when I used it. It's USB audio driver doesn't work at all for me. ALSA would be a better example for your argument anyway, since I guess OSS was going commercial and ALSA was to be the new sound system, or something, and I guess the ALSA API changes too often or something (not sure if this is the case since ooooold versions of stuff that use ALSA still work, as long as it's not doing something weird.). ALSA does seem less intuitive than OSS to use, though OSS is kind of retardedly easy to use. :p Otherwise I don't see the issues people have with ALSA. Most of the time it's related to programs that use ALSA, like mixers that don't expose controls properly, or they complain about ALSA when they're actually using pulseaudio or arts or esd.

I think a lot of the requirements for "free software" are kind of ridiculous. Like x264 I guess isn't considered "free software" because it has a commercial license that requires changes to x264 to go back upstream. In the end, it's a better result for the majority of people. The company gets to use a good encoder and everyone else gets potential improvements. That's all that should matter, really. Not some set of rules that makes everything so black and white that people stand by to the end. A lot of the time, you need some grey.

Lately I have gone back to my roots. I used to be this kid that didnt care about anything. I was growing up, in school, at home, wherever. I had no future because I had not created one yet. I was a very talented individual -- but I let myself down by saying things that probably were a bit unthoughtful or mindless. I also made MANY bad choices during those years.

I did many things, but never had just one. Well, I have gone back to that care-free individual, uncaring about what others think. I used to "compete"; I always had to be the best in everything.

Well now I dont care about that. I have started doing something that I want to do for a living; turning my hobbies into something useful financially.

Like when I was a child, I now do everything on my own terms, almost totally relying on noone elses thoughts. Only now that Im 20, for a while now I have had the smarts to know how to use my knowledge to my own advantage, rather than trying to "impress" people. Only thing is, I had the smarts, but I was only thinking in one way, not able to see others. I have seen the others, and now I have the most important ability I'll ever attain.

Its hard to explain; I think everyone goes through this though, so maybe you understand.

Its interesting to read your own past thoughts, and reflecting upon the things that have made some of those thoughts change or improve over the years. I suppose thats why people keep diaries... Thats what writing is, thoughts. You write in a different way to how you speak with people, because it is a different medium.

Well I was a child back then (and a very lucky one). I was also just learning to code.
I was a child, but you people always called me stupid. I was not, I was just a child.

I sort of still am, but recent circumstances have forced me to grow up, although sometimes (and especially here) I decide to write things in a certain way. Mostly I hate the people here.

3 years later and I design 2 programming languages. Both of them Assembly languages for my own CPU designs, the former an emulator, the latter an emulator and (currently) an FPGA (or trying to, still learning).

Thing is, even if people talk shit, some of it soaks in. Well I realize: there are good people.



None of it matters. I have wasted good time. I always had to be the best; and this meant that people angered me when they "questioned" me. Thing is: if someone does, maybe they are right or maybe they are wrong, but you dont have to asnwer and prove them wrong; in 100 years you're not going to care, and if you're alive still then maybe they will be dead.

Byuu said it in one sentence to me:

Also mudlord, pulseaudio isnt a sound driver like OSS or ALSA, it is a layer that can sit ontop of both of them; its a sound server. It works with OSS too. I think it also works on FreeBSD (not sure).

ALSA has a bad API, but works well these days for actually just playing sounds on most hw.. Ubuntu did PA at 1st and it sucked, but it worsk a lot better now... still higher latency issues, but its been dealt with in a large way.

I used to be a big OSSv4.x nut, but now I just use what comes with and works... ALSA just works. PA is unneeded, but I usually just leave it installed if the distro comes with it. Fedora has always implemented PA quite well though... but I dont like Fedora (or Redhat/CentOS for that matter).. Im more of a Debian/Puppy guy now.. I used to like Arch, but I Feel that they have gone downhill lately.
