I don't know if it is in the 10/24 version or not, so I posted it here. I have to go to town for a while, I'll try it when I get back.Any bugs you find in RC1 that is NOT in the 10/24 versions should be reported here.
EDIT: Yep, it happens in older versions.

Game: Super Mario Kart (U)
Port: ZSNESW
The emulator crashes while going through the credits if High-Resolution Mode 7 is on (640x480 DS). The first point at which it would crash (and it does this consistently) is just as Bowser's spotlighted moment fades. Disabling hi-res mode 7 prevents this crash and others that would occur afterwards if you re-enable the hi-res.
Tested with 1.40 RC1 and 10/24 WIP.
File: Super Mario Kart (U).zip Header: Yes

INTERLEAVED:No BANK:Hi CHKSUM:OK
VIDEO:NTSC CRC32:CD80DB86
System: Windows XP, Pentium 4 1.48 GHz, 256 MB RAM
I have a savestate just after winning the last race that I'll send to ipher1@gmail.com, and if it will help to send it somewhere else, let me know.

I'd also like to see that. Email address is on my homepage.
Btw. the "High-Res Mode7" feature is not a feature of the SNES, so the priority of this bug might be quite low.

grinvader and illegal eagle, I sent a copy of the save state to each of you, so I hope you got it okay.
I know this may not have high priority, but I wanted to report it just the same.
And in case it wasn't clear, I was in the full-screen mode (I believe you may have to be in FS for Hi-Res Mode7 to work).

Yep, a crash. I also noticed the following:
- There's a line under the 3D part of the screen, visible two seconds after loading the savestate. Only with high-res Mode7. This line also appears with the first driver of the credits (Luigi).
- The window of the second driver (Peach, in the lower part of the screen) shrinks and then leaves a single column of pixels. This happens also when high-res Mode7 is disabled.

Nope, just 512x448 or higher, and it must be a D mode.AspiringSquire wrote:I believe you may have to be in FS for Hi-Res Mode7 to work.

When I loaded the savestate in the DOS port, I managed to get through the troublesome credits without crashing, whether Hi-Res Mode 7 was on or not. However, when I switched to the 8-bit video mode, ZSNES crashed at the same moment that ZSNESW had crashed with Hi-Res enabled.
I had also noticed that column of pixels after Peach's showcase, and it does that for Bowser as well, just before it crashes. I didn't mention it because I wasn't sure if that happens on the true hardware, but since you have made a point of it, I think that perhaps it could be the emulation of the scene that is faulty, rather than the Hi-Res Mode 7 or 8-bit mode being the cause.
That line of pixels beneath the drivers doesn't appear in the DOS port unless you disable the first two background layers (but the line is different). In Windows, it's the cloud-koopa (or whatever he's called) that is making that line wrap around to the bottom of the race track; anything else that is at the very top of the screen will wrap below also. And it does only happen with Hi-Res Mode 7 enabled, and it's only visible in the Windows port (between DOS and Win32, anyway).

I submitted this report mid-November concerning the DOS port, and I'm just trying to subtly remind the developers of its existence. It seems to me like these are simple problems to fix, but they are still present in 1.40 RC1. I was just hoping that 1.40 would not also have these issues.AspiringSquire wrote:The sound filter selection doesn't work. It always resets to Gaussian. The low-pass filters seem to work fine, though. Also, the Stereo/Mono setting isn't saved; it's always stereo when ZSNES is opened. I read in the forum some time ago that the Linux port was having these same problems.
I just want 1.40 to be the best version yet—in every regard possible.

P.S. If it helps at all, there was a fix applied (in the ZSNES September 01 WIP - 2003) that later broke:
# Fix for cublic spline interpolation in dos port, it should actually save the option now! [pagefault]

double view
This is using the ZSNESW 1.40 released today according to the main site.
Video mode is 512x448 DR WIN.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v332/ ... nes140.png
The screenshot was taken using the printscreen key and then cropped to
reduce file size. As you can see, I'm seeing double, and in strange
colors. I don't actually use this resolution; 640x480 DR FULL works just
fine for me.
System specs:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2
Intel Pentium III 1.00 GHz
376 MB RAM
Video card:
SiS 630
8 MB
Desktop resolution: 1024x768x32
This problem was not present in ZSNESW 1.36, which was the last version
I used, and which works fine for almost all the SNES games I play.
I hope this is enough information. My apologies if this has already been
reported.

Your video drivers are the problem. Update them.quacky wrote:As you can see, I'm seeing double, and in strange

If that's not possible, switch to 16 bit, or use fullscreen video mode.

Ok game crashes if you have the Final Beta with the test mode in it. Go into TEST MODE go to EXIT 2 3 OR 4 they eaither turn screen colors or crash Zsnes. EXIT 4 will eaither shut ZSNES down or turn Yellow. Exit 3 turns screen White. Exit 2 will let you play for a bit then freeze. Exit 3 and 4 always do it. Exit 2 i have tried twice this time totally crahed zsnes not like last time where it only freezed Zsnes. Seeing these are places in the game you will eventually get too, I figure it will happen at that particular time. Also I did not take any savestates because if you have Star Fox 2 with the test mode you can see it for yourself in no time. Keep in mind i wasnt looking for bugs I was just playing around with SF2 and stumbled on them and just tought i would post it.

Problem/BUG whatever you wanna call
The game is : Dragon Ball Z - Hyper Dymension JAP -> GOOD DUMP - CRC etc... Yes, i do use NSRT
!!
The problem is (very detailed) : the music doesnt shows up... it stays mute... AND, if i try to change the channels (ON-OFF), it locks up the GAME (NOT THE EMU)...
Ahh, now another thing : the codes are messed up in the keyboard, the "8" key is the "ESC"...
Those problems are referred to the linux version which i'm using (Slackware 8-9-10, happens with them all, since the first linux version)...
Thanks for your patience, cause i cound't find answers to those answers yet ...

Bug Report: ZSNESW alt-tabbing
If I alt-tab to another program while the GUI Options window is open in the GUI and alt-tab back to ZSNES, all keyboard key presses are ignored, except the shortcuts within the GUI Options window. Alt-tabbing again, but in-game this time, fixes this. This happens in both the windowed and the full-screen modes, but only with the GUI Options window open. It also fixes input recognition if ZSNES is setting a key when alt-tabbing out and back.
Additionally, if the color-setting mode in "GUI Options" is currently on "Title," the Load menu will be entirely hidden—invisible when open, and using Esc to try closing the Load menu while it is the active window causes Esc to not be able to close any current window until all open windows are closed. I've seen this in the DOS and Win32 ports.

Update on Super Mario Kart Hi-Res Mode 7/8-bit mode (DOS) crash in end credits:
ZSNES no longer crashes in 8-bit mode in the DOS port, but it does crash in Win32 with Hi-Res Mode 7 enabled, though it seems like it may be handling the crash better.
Also, that line which appears with Hi-Res Mode 7 enabled actually is present when in 8-bit video mode in DOS, too. I had only been looking for it when in 16-bit mode before. It's the line in the middle of the screen, below the track, that is kind of a wrap-around from the top of the screen.

Does ANYTHING Save¿!?
Report#1: Disabled Auto Config-Saving prevents manual saving in GUI
Disabling the Auto-Save Config feature prevents all saving of the config files, even if the "SAVE CFG" menu option is used. This is a bug, right?
The quick load menu doesn't update either if config saving is off
Report#2: Sound - Stereo no-save, shortcut volume change no-save
I have seen the same results in both the DOS and Win32 ports; having stereo sound disabled can never be a saved setting, even though it works while applied during each separate use of ZSNES.
On a related note concerning sound:
Adjusting the sound volume is saved as the configuration to load when ZSNES is opened the next time IF it is done within the GUI. Using custom shortcut keys to increase/decrease the volume yields no change to the saved configuration. Is this a bug, or is it this way on purpose? It seems buggish to me.

Report #1, no idea.
Report #2, stereo settings ARE saved. The problem is ZSNES upon load ignores what the config file has to say about it.
