Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
Welp, it's finally happened.
I paid good money for a dating sim about birds.
But then, I've had so much fun just READING about Hatoful Boyfriend, I think they've earned my money.
Also, I lost a foot race with a dove. I am a disgrace to my species.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
STILL trying to get tails in FF4DS. I haven't been playing a lot of games lately, but if I continue getting unlucky when it comes to tails, I think I'll just steal Zeromus' dark matter, beat the game, and put some cheats in for NG+ that'll give me all the rare tails. I was originally just planning to beat it once, but I really wanna fight the optional super bosses. Unless it's possible to kill both without ANY onion gear or adamant armor, I'm gonna cheat and give myself the tails. I'm usually pretty patient in RPGs, but farming for those tails is such a pain in the ass that I don't give a fuck anymore. I just want to see how hard those bosses are. I didn't get treasure hunter, so I haven't gotten even a single red tail drop. I hear it's still a huge pain even with the TH augment. I just wanna fight the optional bosses so I can concentrate on DQ8.
If any of you guys have killed the optional bosses in FF4DS, please let me know if it's possible to kill them without any of the rare equips. I'd rather not cheat, but if the tail-based items are required, I'm not gonna fuck with farming anymore. Trying to get just ONE red tail is obnoxious enough; I'm done wasting time on that bullshit.

An awful lot of
Hyperdimension Neptunia(Keyword: awful. The game is a collection of bad design decisions tied together by some amazing writing.)
and
Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed(which is a better Mario Kart game than Mario Kart)

Internet suggests Mark II still has the combo menu of doom. And that makes me afraid to play it right there.Agozer wrote:Very true. mk2 and Victory are much better, though.Gil_Hamilton wrote:An awful lot of

And the characters all still shop for their clothes at fetish porn stores. But then, the same can be said of many japanese cartoon/video game characters.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
The combo menu is there in both mk2 and Victory, but its design is a lot better and it makes more sense. That's my opinion of it anyway. The original Hyperdimension Neptunia is truly quite a mess in many ways, but the sequels do fix many of its faults -- including the speed at which battles play out.
Funny, I just realized how very similar Hyperdimension Neptunia and Trinity Universe are to one another. Idea Factory, indeed. I decided to ditch TU and keep HN, though.

Focus, AoL! Focus!
Seriously, why are you playing 3 GTA games at once?
Yes, I started Mark 2.

Oh, so it is. A 3^2 grid instead of the 4! clusterfuck from the original game.Agozer wrote:The combo menu is there in both mk2 and Victory, but its design is a lot better and it makes more sense. That's my opinion of it anyway.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
GTA3 is on my phone, so I can play that as I please. I was going through GTA5 all over again until some stupid thing where it would take FOREVER to load my nearly completed save (possibly a soft crash? the backgrounds and load icon still worked), so I discarded the new game. And I switch to GTA4 sometimes.Gil_Hamilton wrote:Focus, AoL! Focus!

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
I recently got a new gamepad for my laptop so I've been playing playstation and N64 games again.
At the moment I'm going through Silent Hill and Ocarina of Time while mixing it up with a bit of Mario Kart 64.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
I got myself a 3DS for Christmas and have been playing Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. Reminds me a lot of Super Mario RPG. I'm going to have to go back and play the earlier games in the series now...

Galaxy Force II, 3DS version.
Admittedly it's a poor port, due entirely to the lack of 3-axis hydraulic cockpit accessory support, but it's arcade perfect or better in every other respect, and the 3D display almost makes up for the lack of a hydraulic cockpit.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
I got Bravely Default in last weekend, and have mostly been playing that since. It's a nice, fairly standard JRPG with some fun elements. The Brave/Default system adds a bit more to the combat than I expected. The city building / side bosses is at least mildly entertaining.
So far, I wouldn't say it's an astounding, must-play game, but there's nothing really wrong, either. It's a solid RPG. Of course, I'm not too far into the story yet... I got sidetracked for quite a while grinding.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
Ninja: Are the microtransactions in Bravery Default 100% optional? So far, have you felt ANY pressure/need to buy any of that nonsense? Also, the US box art is creepy & I wish SE had just used the Japanese cover art.
I've been taking a bit of a break from JRPGs & I've mostly been watching entertaining LPs, reading gaming news and occasionally playing arcade games like the TMNT games, X-men, Final Fight and various fighting games like 3rd Strike & CVS2. I have DQVIII on the back burner atm & once my little break from JRPGs ends, that's the first game I plan on beating.

Oh. Wow, that IS a surprise. I'd assumed the art I'd been seeing WAS the J art.
Which it SORT OF is. That's on the back of the J box, and the front cover of the J collector's edition.
...
I also happen to like it.
I've been playing Remember Me lately. And it made me sad.
I was poking around the game directory, and most of the files are in a directory named "ExampleGame". I was just overcome with sorrow that the prototype that ships with the Unreal Engine isn't titled "HelloWorld"
...
But seriously, the game's kinda awesome. I hope to see more from Dontnod.

Re: WHAT GAMES ARE YOU PLAYING THESE DAYS
The microtransactions are absolutely optional, and frankly, mostly useless. All you can do is buy SP, which gives you extra turns in battle. Maybe that would be useful on hard, or if you're fighting the bare minimum number of battles or something, but I haven't felt any need for it. You can collect a couple of SP a day just leaving the game in sleep mode, and I haven't even used those.Yuber wrote:Ninja: Are the microtransactions in Bravery Default 100% optional? The combat, fortunately, hasn't been dumbed down like so many games these days. In true JRPG fashion, you need to spend a few hours here and there grinding to stay ahead of the difficulty curve. However, the Abilink feature provides a cheat of sorts. Friends (including random people you come across through StreetPass or the game's Net Friends feature) can share moves which you are then able to copy on a limited basis. There's no level requirement to use these, so you could borrow, say, a level 50 player's power even if you're at level 10.
I've only used this during a couple of the harder boss battles. Most of the "friends" I have are randoms who have shared low-level moves, so it's not super useful. However, if you have a bunch of high level friends, I imagine it could get really over powered.

Behold, Candy Bird Saga!
Because why make fun of Flappy Bird or Candy Crush when you can mock both of them at once?
