Star Ocean Hacking

Post by Gman123 »

Does anyone know of a detailed guide to hacking star ocean save states? A guide with pictures would be great, but not really necessary.

"savestate hacking" "star ocean"

PS: There's a "Gaming Discussion" forum... "ZSNES Talk" is more technical.

Star Ocean problem

Post by TypeCasted234 »

Hey maybe you guys can help me out, I think somehow my saved game became corrupt in a realy weird way, this is what happens i was playing the game and it all of the sudden froze, so i hit f4 and loaded my last quick save then i took like 10 steps and i froze again, so i tried just standing there even speeding up time and its fine but once i take exactly 10 steps it freezes.

To put it as simply as possible, you're screwed.

The game randomly crashes like that, but if you create a save-state before a random crash, it will always crash at the same point.

What the?! The ROM does stupid stuff like that, too! It does more than just that. The music almost always goes away (excluding sound effects). My brother also experiences occiasonal freezing. Why!!!!!?

Well, I can verify CloudStrife's problem (as far as the BG music), it happens to me as well.
I start to the game, loaded from a *.srm save, goto Mt. Meteox, fight a few battles (around 1-4), and the BG music goes away, leaving no sound but sound effects.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

if you're interested in hacking for cheating reasons, i suggest you use tbe handy built in cheat search feature in ZSNES. if you don't know how, consult evan's FAQ.

I remember using a hex editor to find the locations of several different stats, but I recall not finding a couple of them. I have no clue what happened to the sheet I wrote it all down on, though.
Everything I say is a lie.
