Sophomore is a (primarily?) US term meaning 2nd year at University. Freshman means first year. I'm also a "Sophomore" then, although here we call it "2nd year".

sorry, what i meant was, if you don't take a gap year, you join uni at 18 (unless your birthday is like september 1st) and usually become 19 over the year(unless your birthday is in late july or august). Is this how we do it? I'm not 100% sure

Sounds about right. Joined in Sept/Oct and had my birthday later at the end of November. I don't really know about the US system or when they start.

Sophomore (and similar) are also used at the high school level.

ah. now i dont get it anymore. Does the name system reset when you go up a school?

In England we go from Nursery(3-4yrs old), Reception(4-5yrs old), Year 1(5-6), Year 2(6-7), Year 3(7-8), Year 4(8-9), Year 5(9-10), Year 6(10-11), Year 7(11-12), Year 8(12-13), Year 9(13-14), Year 10(14-15), Year 11, (15-16), Year 12-or lower sixth form(16-17), Year 13-or upper sixth form(17-18), University(18+)

Nursery, Reception and years 1-2 are in Infants school, years 3-6 are in Junior school (sometimes Infants and Juniors are combined to make a Primary School), years 7-11 are in Secondary school, years 12-13 are in a Sixth form collage-but are sometimes part of a Secondary school(Sixth form and University are optional, or non-compulsary) and obviously, University is University, and you can technically join at any time after leaving school.

That is our system, correct me if I'm wrong.

However, does anyone have an answer to my previous Rom-hacking related question?

The first year in High School or College/University is Freshman, the second is Sophomore, the third is Junior, and the fourth, Senior. So yes, I suppose you could say it resets, in a way. The grade levels in schools vary slightly, but in my area, Kindergarten (aka Grade 0) through 5th are Elementary, 6-8 are Junior High or Middle, and 9-12 are High School. Above that is College/University.

Here it works like this:
Preschool is preschool, Kindergarten-6th grade are elementary, 7 & 8 are Middle School, and 9-12 is High school...
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

well that cleans that up. so Goten is either 14/15 or at university. But this thread should probably return to helping Goten when he needs it and stop being about the various school systems :D

Edit: wow. this thread is the most popular since Starfox 2 was translated.
