ZSNES One-time User Reminder

Post by xamenus »

This needs to be rewritten, due to having html docs. Additionally, I'm not even sure what the "important reminder" is.

Either change that screen to "Read the docs, biznitch" or get rid of it.

I'm all for that one.

Seriously.

A reminder like that would get my vote.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

There're still the issues that this message is quite offensive and that I shouldn't talk personally to users as if I was the one who coded the whole thing...

Well, maybe it could be worded a little better, but without the original meaning getting lost in the process.

The current format is:

1 line
- 1 empty space (automatic)
6 lines
- 1 empty space (automatic)
1 line

Each line can hold 25 characters. The ' symbol can be used (thanks ipher). The first line should be a title and the last should remain as is.
Which leaves 150 letters for the message itself.
If it doesn't fit, I'll have to resize the box... which is feasable. I can see what to modify.

Oh yeah, I can also change the place and number of white spaces.

Brainstorming session... start !

For some reason it looks strange, centered like that. :?
Probably because I'm expecting each line to be a complete sentence.

Brainstorming Idea:

Code: Select all

First-Time User Reminder:

If you have any questions
or problems that concern
this program, please first
consult the documentation
for useful FAQs and info.

Press Z to continue.
Of course, for the title, we could also use "One-time user reminder", "User reminder for first use" or whatever.

We want them to read the documentation even if they don't have a problem.
