unable to set 256x224 res

Post by stale »

in version 1.40 official, I can't get to this mode. If I try setting it from within the gui (no previous cfg files), it attempts to change, then crashes without a "send information about this problem to microsoft" prompt. If I let zsnes generate the cfg files, then try to force this mode on start, it also crashes with no prompt.

in ipher's 2-13-04 build, it crashes like 1.40, only I do get the microsoft prompt, for both trying to set from within the gui and generate-then-force starts.

in both 1.36 official and a kode54-enhanced cvs compile (with a windows timestamp of 12-30-2002), it behaves exactly as it should, I can get to and from this mode just fine.

I'm using detonator 66.93 drivers on a gf440mx, xp pro, p3 750, asus cusl2-c, some crt monitor that says trinitron and micron electronics on it. I don't know what else to tell you

well, I can't remember enough about linux to compile zsnes, but I downloaded your RC1 binary and it worked pretty good, until it segfaulted when i tried to disable sound midgame. heh. I suppose the linux code is much different, and that nothing I did just now was of any use whatsoever :)

I'm having this exact same problem on my laptop. 1.36 will switch to 256x224 full screen with no issue, however the newer versions I've tried will crash. At least, they appear to crash. I don't get any error or anything. The screen flickers, then ZSNES disapears.

I tried draging the config files from my 1.36 install, to 1.42. 1.42 just crashes at start (after the screen flickers like its trying) after this.

Working Version:
1.36 (Windows Port)

Non working versions I've tried:
ZSNES Super Optimized Build (Windows Port) on ipher's WIP site
1.42 Release (Windows Port)

System Specs:
Dell CPi Laptop
266Mhz PII
Windows 2000 Professional (no service packs)
DirectX 8.1
NeoMagic video chipset

Never drag 1.36 config files into 1.42 because they're very old. Do a fresh install of 1.42.
