and now i understand. i've heard of people making themselves mp3 players for their cars booting into a stripped win98 in about 20 seconds, and people who do the same type of fast-boot, except the pc is the guts (is the, wierd grammar) of an arcade cabinet. but you, you have a vision. and not a bad one at that. my problem is that i have no clue how to proceed. i can only imagine that a system that is crappy but guaranteed to get a solid 60 fps would help with size. and i guess the games are on the hard drive, since you already need one anyway. i had this idea of using those flashRAM sticks. like a 256 MB one. but you'd be putting a lot more than that on there, by the looks of things.
now, are you wanting to put this inside a SNES, or build a custom case? I can't find it for the life of me, but i saw this "box," and it did it all. NES, SNES, PSX, Dreamcast, i don't think it did portables though. used actual parts of actual consoles, and had it all integrated through a stripped pc. had controller ports for each system, and specific drives for each console (you played PSX in the PSX drive, and that was it). also can't remember if it had current systems. it was image i saw for 20 seconds that a friend showed me. i might be able to get the image, but it'll take a few days. anyway, all of that, and it still looked sexy. the cool thing about this box was the no-emulation factor. there was a PSX inside that machine, there WAS a N64 inside that machine, etc.
but i'm rambling. i think now that people know what you want to accomplish, help should flow more freely from people who know a crapload more than me. in the meanwhile, i'm going to try and hunt down that image.

Seen it a long time ago.DJSkelo wrote:Wow...I'm actually surprised how quickly I refound the link. I went to Yahoo and typed in "wooden nintendo" and it was the first link (note this isn't sarcasm...I'm actually surprised it was that easy) At any rate, here is the link:

He tried to disguise it by using a nice looking wood...but, I still don't like it. Mostly because it's all uneven with the drives and cart slots and just looks like a Nintendo tree exploded.

I actually thought that typing "wooden nintendo" wasn't going to show it, that's why I asked it.DJSkelo wrote:Wow...I'm actually surprised how quickly I refound the link. Thank you for reading my response, you FAIL in this "internet message board" thing.DJSkelo wrote:Seen that response a long time ago. What makes you think anybody would be interested in seeing that same response if I had already seen it? On this board, if I have seen something...then it's not worth posting because nobody would be interested in it even if they asked for the link to see it. They just don't know that I have already seen it. Once I tell them I have already seen it then they are no longer interested. Also, how long ago I had seen it is directly related to how much interest there should be in anybody else seeing it.
I was the one who asked for the link, because obviously I was interested. and let me tell you, if I had the resources, I would do such a case, even if it is "ugly" as long as it works, and works fine.
... It's like the "I don't like gamecube because it's PURPAL AND PURPAL IS FOR GAYZRORS!" argument.
Sorry everyone for derailing the thread.

wow, this thread went to crap pretty fast. i know we all have our egos to protect, so let's do just that. and not try and show everyone else how "mine's bigger than yours." i just think a little civility goes a really long way.
enough of that chit-chat-crap, i found some pictures. it's called yoshi's boxx. apparently he's got a new one coming out, or it's out, i don't know. this is the one i was talking about.
Clickame!
This one's hot. i think the page has psuedo-directions. not too sure, i just rushed right over here to post the link.
anyways, laters.
