Please post your complete system specs.

CPU (Not your computer's brand)
Amount of Ram
Video Card
Actual OS...

... Are you the guy that used win Xp with 128 mbs of ram? I guess it would help, but I would wait for others to comment on your specs before formating.

To get your system specs...
1. You should be able to get them off the original box (if you still got it)
2. They might be in the manual.
3. Look in your BIOS.
4A. Click Start -> Run...
4B. In the box type dxdiag and click OK
4C. If you get a prompt about WHQL signatures, click "Yes."
4D. You should be able to get them in the main, video, and sound tabs.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Please, no caps.

You didn't even post your CPU speed. You posted 'Gateway' which is neither a CPU model nor brand.

OK. Last time you provided that your CPU is a Gateway. Gateway is NOT A CPU Brand, it's yet another OEM. For all we know, the CPU could've been from the stone age, or it could be the "Ubar 1337" AMD Athlon 64 socket 939 you just deployed in it.
You could use a few hundred more MHz if you're using Windows XP, though. You may want to double you ram as well. Everything else seems fine.

Wow, that is on a par with the PC my uncle bought five years ago back in 1999.

Unless you enjoy unfiltered 1995-style low-resolution gaming, just buy a new barebone PC if you want a substancial increase in ZSNES, since upgrading that old guy would involve replacing most/all the innards, to be brutally honest.

Even the cheapest available Dell is more than enough to run ZSNES @ 60/60 consistant in a DS mode at 10x7 or above.

You can get it to work on fast on your specs, but I guarantee it will look like an obese man's anal sphincter. Not pleasant.

So you can gain a little more knowledge about what computer you have, the extensions your CPU supports (MMX, SSE, that type of thing) you should check out the program CPU-Z. It will tell you a lot.

Also I would advise against upgrading the computer you have. If you can afford it buy a new one. As someone said the cheapest computer from Dell will run you ~$350 without a monitor.

Believe us, if there is not much improvement you can do to that computer, it might even be cheaper to build a new one. (comparing costs of the stuff you need with the improvements you might get, you can get a relative low budget machine that will perform a lot better than your actual machine with some upgrades.)

You know, you don't have to throw away your HDD when you get a new computer.

Just put it in as secondary master (or primary slave, your choice) and you'll get back 'all your stuff'.

Also, one can keep the old computer on a LAN, or something. That's what I did, anyways.

Off Topic - I just looked at that page and I'm wondering, what's the difference between the Celeron and the Celeron D?

Celeron D's for mobile units, such as a laptop.

I know it was said but to stress the point don't both with upgrades on a 400mhz computer. People are literally buying computers that run 8x and 9x faster than what you have. Sure a RAM and video upgrade sounds promising because it might be cheap but the net result will be next to nothing. And yes the mentality that you have to ditch everything you have is insane, take the hard drive out of the old computer and add it to the new one. Or... just burn a CD or two of what you want to keep.
