Star Ocean dejap english translation ROM has some sound and freeze issues.
The rom works fine in snes9x, but when I use it in zsnesw142 Windows, I will go into a town and the music will not come on sometimes or often, so i'll have to go in and out of that area till the music comes back on, and this is any area of the game. also sometimes after using a save state the ROM will crash.
If anyone has any info on how or what I could use to stop this please let me know since zsnes is the only emulator that can play my ROMS at full speed at the moment.

This is a bug in Star Ocean itself. The game is very buggy.
Edit: Also, don't use save states so often. Use regular saving.

This is something you know for a fact? You played the original cart (not a copier with an "un-sdd1" decompressed rom) on the Snes console? This is not the first time I've read this and I'd just like to know if the info is based on hard evidence or if it's something some people just pull out of their ass.Megabyte wrote:This is a bug in Star Ocean itself. Edit: Also, that would imply that 9x doesn't emulate the game properly if the supposed crashes do no occur with it.
Edit2: Note that most urban legends (it is not determined if we have an urban legend in this case) are 'based' on some truths.
One possibility is that the game 'did' crashes on some occasions, but only in some very specific, "extraordinary" cases...nowhere as often as it does on Z. Again, just a possibility.

Ah yes. I see.Megabyte wrote:I have never played the cart. I'm just basing my affirmations on stuff that could very well be nothing but internet legends.I am therefore pulling this stuff from my ass
edit: I never questionned the fact(?) that SO was buggy...I question the affirmation that it crashed every two seconds or so on the original cart.
Edit2: Maybe we should send a SO cart to anomie or byuu or another trustworthy source to settle this question once and for all

I am not the only one who says this. Ask more reputable sources if you wish.Dmog wrote:Ah yes. I see.Megabyte wrote:I have never played the cart. I'm just basing my affirmations on stuff that could very well be nothing but internet legends.I am therefore pulling this stuff from my ass
