an updatable scoreboard for SNES games to see who is the best at Super Mario World or Mario Kart?

is this possible?

Sure, it's possible. We had this discussion already. What's almost impossible is preventing people from cheating. As soon as you have one person cheating, the meaning of the entire thing goes out the window.

Sadly this is too easy to achieve, even without image processor / hexeditor. A couple of PAR codes is often enough.

Quick example (I did this in roughly 30 seconds):

Since i did that with 3 PAR codes (3 score bytes to set), the save state is also cheated, but now if I erase the codes and resume play, my score is maxed out 'without cheats'.
Since there is no way to prevent this, might as well not start it...
