I have a PowerLinc USB device made by Smart Home. When the device is plugged in to my system ZSNES will not open. When I double click on the icon a black square flashes up for a fraction of a second and then disappears. If I disable the HID or unplug it, ZSNES will then open and works with no problems. One other game (Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude) exhibits the exact same behavior. All other games/programs work perfectly fine while the HID is plugged in, some of these include snes9x, jnes, nnnesterj, mame, Myst:Uru, The Matrix, Need for Speed Underground, and many others.
I do believe the root of the problem lies with the PowerLinc USB (because the same problem is exhibited in another game). However, I has hoping there would be something you could modify in ZSNES so that it opens properly (like all the other games). Let me know if I can provide any more info.
Specs:
ZSNES v1.42
Motherboard = ECS 648FX-A
Other info is in my sig.

And here is a link to thread with a few people that had the exact same problem with ZSNES and USB game pads…

Update
(…Tumbleweed blows by…)
Just for kicks and giggles, I downloaded all 15 versions of ZSNES available in the "files” section to see if any of them would work. As it turns out, the only one that opens is version 1.20. All of the rest flash the black box and then disappear.
Does anybody know what change might have been made from version 1.20 to version 1.25 that would cause this strange ZSNES behavior when a specific HID is plugged in?
If anyone has any insight I would like to pass it along to the manufacturer of the device in order to help them figure this out.
thanks,

changes
My guess would be it is one of these changes...
--Ported to DirectX 8.0 which fixed some problems and improved performance (DirectX 8.0 is now required to run ZSNESW) [pagefault]
or
--Fixed DirectInput compatibility on some computers [pagefault]
Is there any way to get more info on these?
