First of all, you need some SNES ROMS to play them in ZSNES.
Unfortunately, I can't give you any addresses of ROM sites, mainly due to legal issues. The only solution to find them legally is to search for the many ROM sites in Google. The address for Google is here : www.google.com.
After you downloaded a ROM you want to play, you open ZSNES, and click on the "Load" menu. Then you click on the "Load ROM" menu item (it should be either "Load Game" or "Load ROM"). After that, you browse through the filelist to find your ROM you want to play. One thing to remember is that the ".." button in the filelist makes the view of the filelist one level higher in the directory hierachy.
If any other board member wants to explain anything I said better, feel free to do so.

To clear up some legal issues on what Sir Camehan posted:
ROMs you get from anywhere (friends, P2P, off Google, etc) are illegal no matter what. The only legal way is to buy a copier which affirms to DMCA standards, and use that, and retain your original SNES cart, and use one copy at a time. Public Domain ROMs are legal to download and use at your heart's content though.

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

IIRC, UFO copiers are outlawed by the DMCA, I'd have to check that post that byuusan made.
EDIT: I found it, thanks to the ZSnes board search feature:
