2 Controllers not the same problem

I have two p220 saitek gamepads and both work fine in their calibration and tests. In ZSNES player 1's controls can be set with one gamepad perfectly fine but for player 2 the second gamepad is not responding at all. I am using a laptop with two usb ports, I am not sure if that matters at all. Any help on getting ZSNES to recognize the second controller would be great. Thanks.
...I tried the p1/p2 to p3/p4 already and I am definately hitting set before trying to input the controls.

Are you using the latest WIP version? Make sure you aren't using the DOS version.
