I've perused the forums and realized that this is an issue.
I (like many others) own a 'SmartJoy' adapter (I have the PlayStation Version, others have the SNES version). It hooks up via USB and works without 3rd party drivers (i.e. native Windows USB Gamepad support) or with drivers available at the retailer's website (Lik-Sang).
I also own/use a USB Keyboard (Saitek Gamer's Keyboard) which also adds a windows USB Gamepad device to the device manager.
When both of these devices are plugged into a Windows XP (Home/Pro) machine, ZSNES will NOT recognize the SmartJoy gamepad in the program.
I have removed and disabled the GamePad portion of the Keyboard so that it no longer shows up in the control panel for game controllers. I have tried both devices with 3rd party drivers, both devices with Window's native drivers, and each combination of 3rd party and native drivers possible. As long as both devices are physically plugged into the computer, ZSNES under no circumstances will recognize the SmartJoy Gamepad, period.
Now to contradict my own previous statement with a question:
Has anyone figured out a way to get this to work?
Thanks!
SmartJoy (PSX-USB Version) w/ USB Keyboard Problems
Moderator: ZSNES Mods
Wow. Sorry for a topic revival, but in fact I have the same exact problem. Incidentally, I have both the Saitek Gamer's Keyboard and the Saitek P880 Dual Analog gamepad, where both don't work. They are both USB, and don't run on 3rd party drivers. If there is some way I can overcome this problem, I will be very grateful.
I also have this problem. I have a Saitek USB Gamer's Keyboard which lists itself as a gamepad under Windows XP. I have an EMS PS2 Controller->USB converter and it has always worked in the past with my regular PS/2 Microsoft Internet Keyboard.
So, my only guess would be conflicting USB devices and ZSNES detecting my Saitek as the gamepad. Is there any way to force it to detect my PS2 controller adapter or will I have to wait for a new release?
If I (and others with this problem) have to wait for the next release, let me be the first (or maybe not the first?) to put in a suggestion to include an option in the GUI to select which inputs are using which device.
Thanks.

Please see my post on Saitek P-something... The solution is on the Saitek support page. You can disable the gamepad in the keyboard without disabling the keyboard.
Does anyone know what this keyboard needs an 11-button gamepad that doesn't do anything?
