Donation & working with zsnes
Once I get some cash here (which may be up to 3-4 months) I am willing to donate $300 to the team. All I ask is would you be able to do everyone asks ya to do with zsnes. I mean, as long as it isn't a stupid idea...like fixing some bugs in certain games and adding stuff to the program. I hope that $300 would be enough for anyone to do some exstensive work on zsnes. My main request is that I (and many others) would like netplay in future versions if possible. If this is in the wrong thread...well...oops lol
Just do drugs...they are good for you (not the additive ones)

This is an example of my problem with money involved in emulation/romacking scene.
This guy donates some money.. In return he expects certain things. If ZSNES team doesn't deliver, he may be angry because he PAID money. Even though it was a donation, the concept can be the same as a pay service.
As soon as any kind of money is involved, expectations and obligations kick in. It doesn't matter if you call it a donation, it's still money and somewhere along the line, somebody expects something.
Sometimes it's the emu author who 'expects' donations from the users to fund certain things. Or they 'threaten' to not continue a project if they don't receive a certain amount for something. That's just as bad in my eyes. Is this a hobby? or a pay service?
This rant wasn't really directed at ZSNES authors or Magusx directly. It's just how I view things in general.

I don't think throwing money at the Devs will magically make ZSNES perfect. They have a limited amount of time, and $300 USD won't suddenly let them retire early.
Money doesn't magically make one smarter, either. ZSNES is a fairly mature emulator. It can run great number of games virtually flawlessly. It's the last few games, the last few percentage points, that are the most difficult. My point is, the closer you get to perfection, the longer it will take and the more difficult it will be to get there, at least in terms of accurate emulation.
For example (and I may be totally wrong about this, since I am not a developer), the current graphics engine for ZSNES does a good job at reproducing SNES graphics. Yet, some games still have problems. It may require that the Devs develop an entirely new graphics engine, that can more accurately emulate more games, in order for those last few games to display properly.
Sorry, this is a rant. Anyway, money won't help ZSNES get better. Money can possibly motivate a Dev to make a small change to the emulator that they wouldn't otherwise consider. The thing that will make ZSNES better is more Devs themselves. Here's a recent example.

Ya know what else I hate.. ?
When people come on here and say 'I'll donate some cash.. in three or four months' or other such crap. Why bother even posting if you have no cash now? Right now you're not doing a damn thing. Talking about 3-4 months from now is crap. The chances that will actually follow through 3-4 months from now and donate $300 are slim to none.
I would have more respect if you said.. I am prepared to donate $300 NOW.. instead.. I feel like you're just talking out your blow hole.

If you are donating, then donate. If you want to pay someone to make an emulator, then you should pay someone else to do it. Quite frankly, what you are proposing will never happen, unless you pay a full fledged salary to someone, in which case, it would likely be cheaper to buy a snes and purchase the games you wish to play.
<pagefault> i'd break up with my wife if she said FF8 was awesome

Donations are here for those who want to help, not for those who want to boss us around.
