Cheats won't work for me..need help!
I searched for a topic similar to this before posting, but couldn't find one. Anyway, I go and put the code into the cheat window(yes, I included the dash in the middle), and when I go to play the game, the cheat doesn't work. I've tried several different websites and they all have the same cheats for the game..I restarted to see if the cheat kicked in then, but it didn't. Am I doing something wrong? Help would be appreciated, thanks.

Or you could hack your own codes and be guaranteed that they will work.
It is my job to teach the dumb.

May 9 2007 - NSRT 3.4, now with lots of hashing and even more accurate information! Go download it.

I sure hope your being sarcastic Nach. A game shark is a piece of hardware that plugs into the console and then you plug your game into it. You can then put codes into the game. It works like the game genie but costs money and it is hardware not software.

It is used in other Nintendo systems. I recall it being for the N64, Game Boy, and Gameboy Color. It isn't for SNES though, that's for sure.Nach wrote:What the heck is a game shark?rage46 wrote:If this is zsnes you also have to make sure its a game genie code not a game shark code.
Everything I say is a lie.

And, to be more accurate, there's not too much of a difference, technically, between a Game Genie and a GameShark--they both change a value in the game's RAM. Both Game Genie and GameShark use encrypted code values, however, and will not show a raw hex address to change, unlike Action Replay and it's brethren. The encryption is different, though (totally different, actually), and the codes are not transferrable.rage46 wrote:I sure hope you're being sarcastic Nach.
Also note that GameSharks came out for systems in the PSX/Saturn/N64 era, while Game Genies were around the time of the NES/SNES/Master System/Genesis. As snkcube said, a GameShark NEVER CAME OUT for the SNES, so there's no viable reason why someone who appears to have two brain cells to rub together would try to plug one in.
It's also simply logically unsound from a common sense level to expect an SNES to accept a code designed for a GBA, I have no idea why the fuck you'd think that. Even the biggest idiot can see that they're completely separate systems with totally different hardware (a GBA is handheld, for goodness sake).
In other words, Rage46, do us ALL a favor and think before you post.
Because some sites will post a code for a game but not tell you if it is the gba version of the game (breath of fire II being an example of a remake.) If he found it in a search engine it would not differentiate either. You should look more at the whole picture instead of the narrower minded view you have. Some people figure a code for a game for the GBA will work for the same game from the snes AKA my cousins.

Oh, god, what a sickening argument. Just to spurn you, I punched "breath of fire II cheats" into Google and ran it. All the sites in the first 5 pages explicitly say what the system is, many times in the title bar. "breath of fire II gameshark" behaves similarly. All larger sites like gamefaqs and its brethren explicitly say the system.rage46 wrote:If he found it in a search engine it would not differentiate either. Please, stop it with the thinly-veiled bullshit and shut up.
And for the record, your cousins probably couldn't or wouldn't type with punctuation and capitalization if they're moronic enough to think that. Use some common sense to size up the situation.
sorry to piggy-back on this thread, but im having cheats problems too...
i've had zsnes for a number of years on my windows machine and cheats worked fine whenever i needed them, however i just found out about the linux version (linux being my main operating system) and everything seems to work perfectly with the exception of cheats...
if i enter a cheat (PAR GG or GF - or even one made through the search feature) on the windows machine they always work fine - some require toggling but they all work pretty easily
if i go to enter the same cheat on the same rom file, but running zsnes linux the cheats dont work
this is the case with 4 games so far so I'm wondering if there was a warning/error i missed while compiling the source? or cheats dont work in linux? or what?
any help would be greately appreciated... im running Fedora Core 2, all packages updated completely, followed the source compiling instructions to the letter - compiled as root... tried running as a regular user and as root through sudo and su - same results all around... im going to try compiling another copy on my knoppix machine and see if for some reason that fixes the problem (although i doubt it would... maybe it has something to do with different memory variable sizes from windows to linux?)
thanks in advance
