Quite right. ZSNES seems to be functioning pretty well, now, albeit the noise that persists inside my case (only when ZSNES is open, no matter what -- it's there).

Do you have any other pc games or emulators on you pc? Do they also make the same noise? Have you try defraggin' and a scandisk of your HD?

I have one PC game: Diablo II. The "noise" only occurs with ZSNES and SNES9X, the only two emulators I use. I've defragged and run scandisk, yes, but it wouldn't hurt to do it again.

Quite right. ZSNES seems to be functioning pretty well, now, albeit the noise that persists inside my case (only when ZSNES is open, no matter what -- it's there).

Some computers have an audible change when there is a heavy load on the CPU. Why? I don't know, but my k6-2+ PC has been doing it since I got it 4 years ago, and my dad's brand new PC does it. I don't think its anything to worry about normally. Is the sound constant?

Well, if it happens to snes9x too, that means that the problem is not Zsnes, it's your computer.

Like kevman said, it's common that some HD "spin faster" when they need it.

Although it's weird that they need it for such emulators.

How old is your HD? Is it a small one?

Variable speed case fans. The hotter the CPU, the faster they blow.

I have experienced that as well, before getting new CPU and case fans. The boxed fan that came with my AMD64 3000+ was so noisy that I didn't even believe that such a noise would be possible. It was LOUD.

It's not that old. A few years. It's 31.7 GB (partitioned). I consider that small.

I know it's not ZSNES, I just wanted to know if it's occurred to anyone else (specifically) with these emulators, and had somehow remedied it. I know that some hard drives " 'spin faster.' " My seven-year-old or so computer (running ZSNES and SNES9x) did not make any such noise, so I just think it's strange that this is happening with newer hardware.
