Dual Monitor Question
I am using a Dual Monitor setup right now and I would like to have ZSNES run on my 2nd monitor. The problem arrises when I start the program It starts in the 1st monitor, now normally I can just drag windows and programs onto the 2nd monitor and it works just fine. However, with ZSNES it seems as though I can not drag the window past the border of the first monitor? Is this because of the non-standard window it runs within? Is there any way I can get this program to move over to the 2nd monitor at all? Any ideas would be helpful.

Zsnes currently doesn't support running on a secondary monitor, onlt the primary. I believe it has something to do with the way directdraw displays the window. I think I remember MaxSt saying he knew how to fix this, but I don't remember exactly.

Yeah, he said something about that. Too bad all the old posts are gone.Megabyte wrote:Zsnes currently doesn't support running on a secondary monitor, onlt the primary. There is a way around this. Depending on which GFX card you have. Under video overlay options, you can set overlay to secondary device. Then you can run it in monitor 1, and have it show on monitor 2. At least thats how I got it to work with my AIW Radeon 9200, and my GeForce 5200. But this is not really an answer if you need monitor 1 free.Megabyte wrote:Zsnes currently doesn't support running on a secondary monitor, onlt the primary. That would probably work if you can do that.Bacon wrote:Does Zsnes start on the primary monitor? What if you set your other monitor to be the primary in the video card's properties?
ZSNES is coded to use only the primary directdraw device as was stated above.

Interesting ideas, Thanks a lot for the information
I guess I could play around with changing my primary monitor. The problem I run into is this; I want to be able to play ZSNES at the same time I am playing a window'd game. So i tryed just switching the game over the other monitor but then it gets REALLY choppy, like its having a hard time rendering the graphics and gameplay while its on the second monitor so I have to keep that on the primary one. Other Snes emulators run fine on either monitor, but I really love ZSNES and would love to be able to run that.

New guy here, hello eveyone.
I was wondering this myself too I run an ATI AIW 7500 with my Samsung 27" television as my secondary screen. I can drag everything to that screen but the ZSNES.

You won't be able to just drag the Zsnes window to your secondary monitor or tv.
I will guess that the Rady 9200 AIW is more advance that the Rady 7500 AIW.
If you want to play games on your tv, using zsnes, you'll have to set up your tv as your primary monitor.

I am almost positive the 7500 and 9200 use the same driver set. I have one of each that I use.Joe Camacho wrote:You won't be able to just drag the Zsnes window to your secondary monitor or tv.

I've used ZSNES on a TV just fine on my non-AIW 7500 by cloning the primary monitor onto the TV.
In all honesty, the 7500 is an impressive unit. True dual monitor support (independant rez) and TV support. The 7500 is also capable of more raw polygons than a 9200. It depends on the version, though. The original 7500 had 32meg of non-ddr ram.

I've seen an emulator do it before, once long ago...if I can remember which emulator and if it was for SNES I'll be sure to postback with more detail.Joe Camacho wrote:Looks like I got mixed up. But it's the answer is still the same. Something to do with Zsnes' priorities. I'm quite sure you can't do the two things at the same time.
I don't know if this is going to change in the future.
It changed. Used to be 2 different driver set, one required .NET and the other didn't.Noxious Ninja wrote:kevman wrote:Yes, but the higher end ones use a different set.Noxious Ninja wrote:All Radeons use the Catalyst drivers.

Odd... And this means that my video drivers are out of date again. And I really really hate the new knowledge base layout.
