ZSNES on XBox?
I read the FAQ here before posting, mentioning "don't request ZSNES on these systems since it can't be done..." and XBox was not mentioned there. I have been a ZSNES fan for years now, and would love to see it on the XBox. xsnes9x for XBox is okay, but there's two problems: the image is SO blurry compared to a real SNES (meanwhile genesis, nes, etc emulators on xbox do not have this problem since XPort made all those and xsnes9x was by another guy) and there is a filter to remove the blur, but then the image is WAY too sharp and everything is jumpy. Even the xsnes9x author acknowledges this, as well as the sound being WAY inferior to ZSNES on the PC. Load up Final Fantasy 6 on xsnes9x for XBox, then on ZSNES. The sound on ZSNES is 100x better.
Anyway, I was wondering if I should bother crossing my fingers for ZSNES to make it to the XBox. I have heard since you can get Linux to run on XBox, you can get ZSNES for Linux to run on XBox. How does this run? Well at all? Image quality? Another thing is since it's running on Linux it won't have cool TV related options like high def, which all XBox emulators support (believe it or not, NES/SNES looks amazing in 1080i!)
Any feedback would be much appreciated on this matter.

ZSNES is already ported to the Xbox like what Joe Camacho said. You need Linux installed to make it happen.DaddyLongLegs wrote:I typed "XBOX" in search and didn't find anything in this forum that you wrote, sorry.
Just wondering if anyone ever plans on porting ZSNES to the XBox. I really can't stand the lousy image and sound quality of xsnes9x

Well it's more being ran on Linux than it's own XBox program (an xbe file). I am surprised no one has tried to port ZSNES directly to the XBox since the ZSNES source code is so freely available.snkcube wrote:ZSNES is already ported to the Xbox like what Joe Camacho said. You are invited to try to do that, after all, it is open source.DaddyLongLegs wrote:Well it's more being ran on Linux than it's own XBox program (an xbe file). There is no known plans by the devs to make a zsnes ver. for Xbox. And I really don't think they will do it.

It would be idiotic for us devs to make an XBE program or whatever seeing as not one of us owns an XBox.

You're right not to do that!Nach wrote:It would be idiotic for us devs to make an XBE program or whatever seeing as not one of us owns an XBox.

The PC versions still need a lot of work: debugging, chips still to be emulated etc... but I know you'll fix it all over time.

P.S. I don't have an XBox skyscraper either.

there are xbox emus that might be enough to port zsnes. however porting an emu to the xbox would be done by other people who have more knowledge of the hardware than the people who made zsnes. so maybe check some xbox emu site because you'll find people more willing to port it there. the people here just work on zsnes itself.

I didn't say your inquery was idiotic, but the notion of someone without an XBox to do such a thing would be.DaddyLongLegs wrote:As much as I love one of my inqueries being called idiotic, I'd be willing to donate an XBox to a ZSNES programmer who would be interested in porting it.Nach wrote:It would be idiotic for us devs to make an XBE program or whatever seeing as not one of us owns an XBox.
I might be slightly interested, but I don't really know much about the XBox to write a native app for it, nor do I need more junk lying around, if I could use it as another PC though...
Your best bet is talking to pagefault or a native XBox developer, otherwise use the Linux version.

Yeah I woudln't lie to you, XBox really can't be used as a PC, unless you want a media center, then it's great for that. Should I honestly present pagefault with the idea? Would he be bothered in any way?Nach wrote:I didn't say your inquery was idiotic, but the notion of someone without an XBox to do such a thing would be.DaddyLongLegs wrote:As much as I love one of my inqueries being called idiotic, I'd be willing to donate an XBox to a ZSNES programmer who would be interested in porting it.Nach wrote:It would be idiotic for us devs to make an XBE program or whatever seeing as not one of us owns an XBox.

I'd love to donate one to pagefault.
