For in-game saves, I advise you to read the corresponding game's manual. Or just open your eyes, there should be a save option in a menu somewhere.

For emulator saves (commonly called states) I advise you to read the ZSNES documentation.

Make sure the folder you're saving to isn't read only. Like, if it's on a CD.

Go to Windows Explorer, find the folder your ROM is located in, right-click it, then choose Properties.

Then they aren't roms. They are SNES music dumps. Do get some games first.

Make up your mind already.

Look at the properties of of your save folder and uncheck the Read-Only attribute. Although the chances are that Windows keeps it Read-Only regardless, in which case you have to set the atributes from the command prompt.

Here's a pic

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b145/mabauti/pass.jpg

- Open Zsnes
- Goto Path option (1)
- Name the path you want the save states go into (2)
- <Press Enter>

- Goto the MISC Options
- Click on SAVE CFG option (3)

Restart Zsnes

You can now save states
Ok

If he gets a message "Unable to save", that won't help.
