process not endind using remote wonder

Post by KyJelly »

i use a ati remote wonder to launch/close roms using meedio as my frontend.
when i press the big red button (to close) zsnes will end the fullscreen session and the task bar button will disappear. but if i open task manager zsnesw.exe is still running. i'm guessing the remote doesn't simulate alt+f4 because if i hit those on my keyboard that will end the process correctly. i'm useing the latest july 24 WIP. it's hard to remember but i dont think 1.42 had that issue but i can't test it because 1.42 just crashes.
all my other emulators work correctly with this remote

Just use your remote wonder, using the menu go Game->Quit.

getting to the menu requires being able to press the esc key. and that doen't work in zsnes either. i just want everything to work seemlessly. i know it'a bit picky but this is the request section.

i should be more specific... mapping the esc key to one of the remotes extra function keys doesn't work.

I'll have to look, but there is a plugin that lets you map keyboard keys to (any) button on the remote wonder. I use it to control VideoLan.

Look for RW Key Factory. This will allow you to set any keys to any button on the remote. (With an excemtion or two) They also create their own software driver for the remote control that allows you to customize the whole thing.

that's all well and good, and thanks for the suggestion but i'm quite satisfied with every other aspect of my htpc. and also i'm able to map the esc key to one of the available buttons on the remote. i have to use the esc button to end epsxe emulator so i know the functionality is there. it's just that zsnes doesn't work with it for some reason.
i guess i'm just curious as to why zsnes doesn't act like EVERY other piece of software on the planet(except epsxe wich isn't in current development anyway). and why it can't be fixed.

Because ZSNES isn't like every other piece of software on the planet.

And did somebody turn off the word filter for "zsnes"?

There is no word filter for ZSNES. Unless you mean zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator).
Try out CCleaner and other free software at Piriform

I'm talking about the word filter for

zsnes

that causes it to be appended with "(btw i have beans for brains)"
because it didn't catch the instances in:

That's cause the filter catches zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator). AFAIK, it is case insensitive, so it could not be made to catch zsnes.

Yeah, I thought that it was catching lower-case instances of zsnes when really it was catching instances of z-nes.

Now I know.

Yeah, the correct name of the emulator is "ZSNES".

Not "zsnes", "Zsnes", "ZSnes", "zSnes", "zSNES", "zsnes (btw i'm too stupid to learn the name of the emulator)", etc.
