Controller setup issue

I have a Logitech WingMan RumblePag, an old game controller. I installed the software, and XP auto detects and whatnot. When I open ZSNES and go to Input #1, I go to keyboard/joystick and I click "Set Keys" but when I try to press the button that I want it to be, it doesnt respond. I have calibrated the controller, and everything works fine. I have also hit "Set" and click on the key, but when it asks me to press the button I want, it still doesnt respond. Any ideas?

Does it have a throttle? If so, try centering it.

i centered it and tried again, but it didnt work when i tried to set my controls through set and set keys for keyboard/joystick

nvm i got it...i just had to restart zsnes and not load the rom, and it worked
