Someone, please help the n00b.

...Yes. I said it. I...am a total loser, and a total n00b. I am not 1337, and so...I am having problems. I downloaded the final ROM for Tales of Phantasia. I took one look at it and said, "Wow. I suck." I was kinda hoping that it would all be prepackaged for me. That I would have to do nothing. Wow was I wrong. Please. PLEASE. Someone help me, for I have no understanding of anything ROM. I am sorry I suck so bad. But please help.

You need to find the ROM for Tales of Phantasia. Requesting for ROMs in these boards are against the rules though.

You'll also need the translation patch. Unless you can read Japanese fluently, but seeing as you suck, you probably can't.

It would do you good to download the translation patch and then read the documentation that comes with it. Just a thought. It would also do you good to read the documentation that comes with ZSNES.

The rom image of the game. Don't ask where to get it, it's against the rules. You can find it with a bit of browse searching.

Ugh, bleh. Man, this stuff is hard. I tried to google and yahoo it and found out ROM Images or illegal and stuff. Man, how do you guys find them? (Don't answer that because you aren't allowed to or something.) Argh. Alright, well, I'm still gonna try.

Yes, exactly. Like this.

I dumped it myself, so it's not the best quality ToP ROM image, but it works.

I have to get one of those!? *Sweat* Aw man, you can't be serious! (Btw, why is this thread made of gold? What will it win? Well, whatever. I got a rom from a *blank* website. So now I have the "Dejap_eng_final" File, I have the "ZSNESw142" File, and the "Tales of Phantasia" File. What next?

Change the rom's or the patch's filename so it's the same, for example:

Tales.smc <- Game
Tales.ips <- Patch

Make sure they are at the same place (Folder)

Run Zsnes and it should soft patch the rom.

For that, read the documentation that comes with ZSnes. But since I'm in a good mood...

Goto Config -> Video and select any video mode with "F" in it.
