Netplay

Hey guys is Netplay hard to setup? I just tried to connect with my mate and it didn't work. I entered his IP and then clicked connect to server after he had clicked on start as server. It says 'init client ... done', (initialised client?) but then says connecting to server and nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks
