Problem with the game keys saving.

Post by HyuugaNeji »

I am having a problem much like Mercedes was having with his Config was not saving. Although mine is not the game specific one, it is just the normal game keys. (Like setting up which key is the quick load button or quick save one, etc, etc.) It also wont save my videoand sound settings. I asked my friend and his saves all of this just fine, does anyone know of anyway to make it save so I dont have to change my buttons every time I open the game. Thanks.

Are your config files marked as read-only?

Thats just the thing, I just looked in my folder and there doesnt seem to by any Config file. Is it supposed to be a wordpad type thing or what? And if it turns out that my file IS missing how would I replace it?

ZSNES *should* create the config files automatically (zsnesw.cfg and zguicfg.dat). You mght want to try saving the configuration files manually by clicking Misc --> Save Config.

Thats what I mean. I click the save config button and, at the bottom, it says "Configureation Files Saved" but if I close out of the ZSNES program and open it back up it will not be the same, it will just be the default settings. Any way to fix this?

Looks like the folder ZSNES save the configuration files is read-only. Try to uncheck the read-only attribute by going intothe folder properties.

Then again, if you're running Windows XP, that might not do anything and you'll have to remove the attribute via the command prompt.

Well, I tried to make the folder not read only but, Like you said, I have windows XP and it just keeps changing it back. How would I take that attribute off through the means that you said?

Start the Command Prompt. Type:

attrib -r +a c:\games\zsnes /s /d

Of course, you need to change folder path to match yours.
