Vsync Issue

Post by Sonuis »

Well, I have kinda ran into a problem... I am using the ZSNES Oct. 20th WIP for Windows. My comp specs are:Pentium M (Centrino) -- Windows XP SP2 -- 1.60 GHz -- 480 RAM -- Graphics: Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller (128 meg).

After I got the WIP, 'installed' it and deleted the config/.dat files, I went on to restore my settings. When I started to configure my video settings and checked off Vsync...

...This happens. The ZSNES window 'explodes'. Well, it's not a real explosion, but the screen goes on the fritz. It seems to only trigger when under a D(R/S) mode. The problem occurs with the filters as far as I can tell. Anyway, when I click Vsync ALONE, this happens...

Now, here's what happens when I set a different filter, then select Vsync

*You can tell that by moving the mouse, the fritzy parts of the screen are removed.

Okay, I went overboard with the giant examples of just 1024 x 768 DS W. I did test it in other modes.

I could go on and on however. I have one last example.

*This one caught my attention as that's my desktop's background (No, it isn't porn of any sort).

Okay, now that I've officially bored you all to tears, I will tell you right away that my card can support Vsync. Has this happened to anyone else, or is this just on my end perhaps? I did not load any roms, and I had only configured my keyboard settings and basic options. I think this might be something to look into if this bug is legitimate.

One more thing to note, is that when I exit ZSNES and then reset ZSNES, the problem vanishes, with Vsync still being set. *Hope* this helps.

I think this is the bug you're referring to: http://zsnes.ownaged.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=14
Thanks for providing more detailed info on this bug. :)

Try disabling "Filtered GUI" and it should hopefully fix...

Seems like there's a repaint command missing somewhere.

Thanks a lot. The suggestion worked. I'll be sure next time to check out the bugzilla before posting another bug... if I ever find one that is.

i have a very similar error. it gets annoying but its no big really. when i minimize the window then max it again, i get fritziness, or a blank screen in some parts. if im playing a game, i just press escape to go back to it and everythings fine. the thing is, no matter what i select, it does it. by the way, could someone check my sound error topic? its really drivin me nuts.

I think ZSNES does that because of the way graphics are drawn on-screen. For some, enabling/VSync or Triple Buffering does that too. I don't think it's a priority on the fix list, since the problem can be remedied quite easily.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.
