read faq, still have a question

Post by kavlar »

I have a problem playing a few ROMS i downloaded today, ff3 and chrono trigger. I have done what you have said in your faq about how to install ZSNES. I extracted ZSNES and put it in a folder i created. Then i extracted the ROM and also put it in the folder i created. I went to run the ROM and all i can get is the "intro" to the games only. The opening sequences of ff3, when the magitek armor approaches narshe, then it restarts again. I have downloaded that ROM from many sites. And the same thing happens every time. Does anyone know what my problem is?

I am sorry if this has been brought up before.

Ok you have to have your input set up (to either your keyboard or gamepad). Then you have to press start for most games.

Please read the section of the documentation that says ZSNES Default Keys...

The problem you are having is that you have no idea what the keys are... hit the load of them (as the more recent posters who've never played these games in their entire lives) to figure out how to start the game...

i have my start set as "enter". It still only plays the opening cinema over and over and over. About a year ago i had ZSNES and this rom and it worked fine. But for some reason i cannot work it this time. Any help would be appreciated.

This isn't a bug report.. just another user like you.. who had no clue initially on how to get FF3 going...

I wouldn't worry about it.. it's probably a good ROM, but he has no clue how to start the game..

I'm hoping this is not an epidemic or anything.. but since this is the second time (as of late) that someone had no clue on how to start FF3.. (how it is a mystery to some people, I do not know).. but the intelligence level needs to be raised a little here... not saying people asking these questions are dumb.. but this type of questioning should be preventable...

Lol ok everyone, i do feel pretty stupid right now. I hit "A" and it worked. I was pressing "Enter" before and it did not, but after i hit "A" it now works. Thank you.

Hahaha. This definitely should be added to the FAQ.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I disagree... but if it really has to be added, there are generally two buttons involved with starting a game.. (Start or A).. and some games have a delay before your input is acknowledged.. (I don't know any other game than FF3 off the top of my head that does it, but there's a bunch that do though)

People expect games to play on their own now ? And I'm not talking about progressquest...

Mmm.. no, I think they expect something to happen especially if they press the wrong button to start a game...

"OH NOES! I pressed the 'B' button and the 'intro' is replaying itself again! OH WHAT DEW I DEW?"

That's what we're getting here..

How come we're getting these kind of posts now, after these games have been out for ten years? When I was thirteen and FF3/6 came out I had no trouble with it. Neither did any of my little buddies. Are modern games breeding a generation of dumb bitches who panic when they're not babied through every step?

I don't think consoles like the XBOX has changed in the "new generation" of guys that have come around... but OSes like WinXP has introduced the dumbification of trying to figure things out..

When you had DOS.. Windows 95.. you had to figure out how not to crash the damned thing... now, there is a generation of douchebags that have yet to figure it out (with the uselessness of System Restore helping out)... go figure...

Heh, I used to deliberately crash my XP tons back in the day. 8)

Not to mention using official Nyko Drivers + official Saitek drivers + having both plugged in at the same time + ~10 minutes = BSOD. 8)

Oh, and when I first played with the screen savers, CRASSH, to the maxx. 8)
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Find all files in C:, select all, change a file attribute. That's lots of fun.

God damn, those posts were EXACTLY what I was talking about in my post in the "Do you think the board is useful" thread. He asked a question, people answered him and now other people join the topic AFTER HE SAID HE FIXED IT to tell him how easy this is to fix/how stupid he is. You guys really need to find something better to do with your time.
