Saving Trouble, Help Needed

Post by Stevetron »

I'm having some trouble trying to save my game in Chrono Trigger. I tried to use the in game save but that didn't work. If you guys can post me any other alternatives it would be much appreciated.

Are you runing a game from a cd? if so you cannot save to a cd, you can change the save path in zsnes by going to the save configuration.

Also, make sure your hard diver isn't full, if it is, try deleting any unused programs and such on the hard drive, for this will also cause the game not to save.

if the above is not true. you could have a bad rom of Chrono Trigger.

Thx for the info but the games running off the hard drive and i have plenty of space, guess it must be a bad copy. I'll check it out and see if another version works.

You know, you can verify your ROMs using NSRT, see sig.
<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Then scan the rom with NSRT and post the info here. Then we can deduce whether the rom is bad or not.

What exactly is NSRT, though?

NSRT: Nach's SNES ROM Tools.

It combines several of your favorite utilities (eg goodsnes, insnest, etc) into one program. It's very neat, a must-have for any SNES collection.

I'm sorry I'm such a moron, but I just downloaded NSRT, but I don't know how to scan the ROM.

Did you read the docs ?

You need to use the command line to use it.

May I suggest you use the NSRT frontend, it should be at the same place you got NSRT.

That's not your fault. It is difficult to use NSRT if you do not know how to use the Windows command line. I believe that there is a front-end Windows interface available for it.

Gah. I downloaded the simple version of NSRT but now when I try to scan the ROM it says NSRT failed. I followed the regulations of not having DOS and Windows in the same file and all that, too. Also having the fronter and NSRT in the same place.

Nothing wants to work for me

Maybe this ROM just completely sucks but it got a 4.8 rating from 107 people...

That probably means that it's just a good game, not a good dump.

Assuming you want the U.S. version, you need a ROM file named "Chrono Trigger (U) [!]". Find it.

Also, you'll want to enable SRAM Check + Save in the Options menu.

Ratings and have nothing to do with the rom image being properly (or improperly) dumped.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

"Chrono Trigger (U) [!]".

Yeah. That's what the ROM I have is labeled. For that SRAM thing, do you mean options in the ZSNES? Config -> Options? I don't see that there. Ah, wait. I found it.

Maybe I'll just try downloading it again and at the first save point I'll see if it registers or not.
