Dos Controller Recommendations?

Gamepad acting up? Keyboard not responding properly? Can't get that other user to work? Read and post about it here.

Dos Controller Recommendations?

Post by Kriegan »

I talked in another post of how I was using the Dos version of Zsnes on my friends old 333Mhz Aptiva. Can anyone recommend any Dos compatible controllers?

A 4-button gameport controller will probably be inadequate. Get either a gameport Sidewinder gamepad or a parallel-port-modded SNES controller, both of which are supported natively (or at least used to be, I haven't used the DOS port in quite a while) by ZSNES without extra drivers or keymapping software.

Off the top of my head, any gameport gamepad that works in DOS (or when DOS programs are run from Windows at least). Microsoft Sidewinders work well, I had a couple.

How? Plug both of them in, install drivers... but you need two gameports or gameport extension in the controller itself. Then configure them in Config --> Input #1/#2

You probably cannot find them anymore , but Radio Shack used to have pci cards (shit might have even been isa) that had two extra gameports on it for close to 5 bucks.
