Stuck in an endless loop?

Stuck in an endless loop?
I recently restarted my Final Fantasy III game, but I ran into a problem. After playing the introduction and the credits, the introduction began again and the game was stuck in an endless loop, running the intro and credits over and over.
I thought it was the age of my computer (which still runs Windows 95) so I transferred ZSNES and FF III to my new laptop. Same problem - an endless loop, and NO gameplay. Strangely, nothing like this has interfered with any of my other games.
Somebody please help! This is my favorite game ever, and now I can't play it! I've meddled with some of the configurations, but nothing has worked.

If this is your favorite game ever, I would assume you know that the intro is supposed to happen again and again, until you press the button you configured as A in the input menu, even when you choose a new file, the intro starts again, but this time is just one time.
Try pressing the assigned key or button as A.
Is this your first time playing it on an emulator?

*sigh*
The only thing that could possibly be the problem is if the guy updated ZSNES recently w/o deleting the .cfg and .dat files in ZSNES...
Edit: Never mind, this seems to be another person who has fallen into "can't figure out how to start FF3" hole

Heh, interesting. I finally took a look at this game to see what was so confusing about it. Looks like people expect the gameplay to begin right away without pressing any buttons...
Still, he may have tried pressing Start instead of A. It does seem more logical to press Start rather than A, since most SNES games require you to press Start.

Here's is an age old secret trick. If pressing start doesn't do anything, PRESS THE OTHER FUCKING BUTTONS!!

Hehe, this reminds me of my friend who used to work for Konami.
He used to bitch all the time about people calling the support line, everyday, because they could not START Metal Gear Solid 2.
They would press the O Button and it would go to the Menu Screen, and then press the O Button again, and it would loop back to the Title Screen.
You could either press O and then Select a Menu Item like "New Game" and press X
OR
You could press X and then Select a Menu Item like "New Game" and press X again.
I think that's how it went?
Anyway, he would bitch to me everyday, how stupid people really are.
He would basically refer them to Page 2 in the manual
I wonder if the Final Fantasy 3 Manual explains pressing the A Button to Start the game?

Yes.. Because obviously all these people are playing FF3 on a real snes with a cart and manual.LDAWG wrote:I wonder if the Final Fantasy 3 Manual explains pressing the A Button to Start the game?

What I find amusing is that almost all the people that have this problem say that FF3 is their favorite game EVAR or that they played it a lot years ago, yet they can't figure out how to start playing.

This doesn't help much... but it's still interesting.

Getting Started
The game pak's built-in battery holds as many as three saved game files.
If there are saved files, you'll have the choice to continue a quest or
start a new game.
Beginning Anew
If there are no saved files, the game will begin with the introduction
story, without showing the saved file screen. Shortly after you begin,
you'll arrive at a place where you can save the game to a new file.
Continuing a Quest
If the battery is keeping one or more saved files, you will have the
option at the beginning of the game to choose a file and continue a
quest. Move the cursor to the desired file and press the A Button.
New Game
You can start a new game even if the battery is keeping saved files.
Move the cursor to the New Game option on the saved file screen and
press the A Button. The game will start from the beginning.

Well... for some people.. there is a one track mind... some games for the SNES actually do that too... the "A" being "OK" and "B" being "Cancel" so sometimes when the B button is used to goto the main menu... they hit the B button again and the main menu closes and the game restarts.LDAWG wrote:Hehe, this reminds me of my friend who used to work for Konami.

Well, although it is correct in some sense, but it doesn't actually say how to get to the main menu... it still shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out. This doesn't help much... but it's still interesting.

The obvious hint here is... you are playing the game WHEN you interact with the game with certain buttons (and that may potentially be only one button).

I love this game, it is my most favorite game ever in the whole universe but I don't know how to get past the intro cause I'm dumb.

Well, it could also be that this really was their favorite game, but they haven't played it in a while, for some reason.
Just a guess...

<Nach> so why don't the two of you get your own room and leave us alone with this stupidity of yours?

Even if you haven't played for a while.. you would still remember basic controls/gameplay.
All we need now is a thread about how a person is unable to beat a boss because the emulator must be plotting against you.
