Deletes Saved Games??`

Post by omgwtfdeath »

Hey there, I have the latest version of ZSNES, and for some reason if I leave the games for a couple weeks they'll just disappear. It's really odd. At first I thought it might be a problem with a certain ROM but it does it with all my ROMS! I don't exactly know the time frame, but if I leave the SNES or the games unused for a while, my saved games disappear :( I would appreciate any help anyone can give.

Enable SRAM Check+Save from the Save options and see if that makes a difference.
whicker: franpa is grammatically correct, and he still gets ripped on?
sweener2001: Grammatically correct this one time? sure. every other time? no. does that give him a right? not really.

I honestly don't think it will help.

For me, it has happened a lot with Lufia 2, I don't understand why though. It may be something to with the savestate code (loading with SRAM).. but I'm not too sure here.

Did you delete any files from the directory were you have your roms?

No.. I'm not stupid enough to delete .srm files (I've intentionally defined a save folder for this very purpose)

I'm curious.. hopefully a dev could answer..

What happens when an .srm file for the same game (but have different data) is put in the saves folder and the folder the ROM is in...

ZSNES only looks for SRAM files and states in the folder you specified. If you don't specify a folder, ZSNES will look for those file in the same folder where the executable is. ZSNES doesn't go through any other folders.

I was really asking the Original Poster.

No I didn't delete anything. At first I MOVED some files from a 'Roms' folder to the same folder that the ZSNES is in. Could that have some effect?

A big fat YES if you did not define a path for the Save directory..

Otherwise, if you moved the files back to its original location or defined a path for the Save directory, then NO.

If you did not define a path for the Save directoru, this doesn't mean you may have deleted your save files.. but you will probably have multiple save files in the ZSNES folder and the ROMs with different save data in them.

I figured that.

I'm having a similar problem with The Legend of Zelda: LttP. I'll play it, do a save state and save the game normally, and when i go to play it again, it will start at some previous save I did. I'm positive I'm saving before I close it, so I don't know what the problem is.

Define how you "play it again"... do you start the game straight or do you load the save state first?

In the order that you have saved it, it's best to save the state AFTER you have saved the game normally to retain the correct save data....
