And how could I go about doing a "repair" installation?Ichinisan wrote:HA HA HA HA HA!Chrono wrote:Ugh. this sucks. I have a problem. It sounds stupid, but:
A while ago, I deleted the whole Internet Explorer folder, uninstalled it, and even went o my Application Data folder and deleted the Internet Explorer folder there, too. Now, it says I need Internet Explorer to do the update (I don't have SP2), so when I downloaded the installer, and tried installing the newest Internet Explorer, it says there's a newer version already installed on my computer and it cannot continue. What the heck is up with that?
Internet Explorer is an important part of Windows. Even if you don't use it, don't fuck with it (no matter what anyone else says).
You might have to reinstall Windows or do a "repair" installation.

To elaborate on this part...put the disc into your disc drive and close anything that runs automatically. Restart the computer. Watch for the message: "Press any key to boot to CD..."Clements wrote:Boot from the WinXP CD
Strike a key before the message disappears to run Windows Setup from the disc. If you miss the message, the discs' boot loader will pass to the hard drive and your current installation of Windows will boot (meaning that you would have to restart and try again). If you never see a "Press any key......." message, come back and say so. You need mess with the boot order in your BIOS' CMOS Setup program.
