I don't think that people can't afford it, rather the perception of "is it worth it?". It's hard to like the PS3 given what you are getting for your money, unless there are more PS3 specific games you prefer.

I agree as well. Look at yourself in a similar situation with a lesser product that you could afford.

Tou can buy the lower end model for $xx dollars, or you can by a better model for 15% more.

Potentially you COULD afford either. But, are you willing to spend the extra on a the upper model if it doesn't have much offer just because you COULD afford it? I wouldn't. It would depend on what it offered. Not many people just throw away money for no reason whether something is affordable or not. It's got to be worth it to them.
