Secret of Evermore 2 Player Patch Netplay Desync

Post by Kanadwen »

I have correctly patched Evermore for 2 players, and works just fine on local play. Though, during netplay over ZSNES (1.42) and it always desyncs during gameplay. I have two different versions of Evermore (both US), one without a header, and one with a header (SWC). I've read the readme and learned that the patch is intended for a rom with a header, so I added a header (NSRT with NSRT 3.3) for the one without one, and "double" headed it with SWC + NSRT. When you load both of them over netplay, you get no sound and it does not progress after you hit start. Now, with another version of a US rom that I got that already has a SWC header on it, I patched it, and it loads perfectly through netplay, but desyncs whenever we encounter our first enemy *the sweepers). Does anyone know anything about this?

If it desyncs with Snes9x too, in the same place, I doubt there is something that the problem is related to Zsnes.

Well, I did ALL my testing in zsnes and only tried it once (a non-header which wouldn't of worked in the first place) in snes9x, so all in all I shouldn't even put it in the post. Will edit it.

Seeing how it is bugged on Snes9x as well, I can come to the conclusion that the hack is either

1) Not netplay compatible

2) ZSNES netplay is not good enough

There's a very fair chance that #1 is happening here. Remember that this is a hack, and thus we are not responsible for it to work. You are better off contacting the author and see if he has any ideas why it won't work.

Yeah I know you guys aren't responsible, and I understand that it has to be the hack that causes it. I was just making sure I wasn't doing anything wrong that would cause it. Thank yas.
