Forcing AF in nvidia settings on Zsnes...

Post by HonoredShadow »

Would forcing Anisophic filtering on Zsnes (or any emulator) result in a better/clearer/sharper picture?

Would it have the opposite effect and actually make things look blurry? Or would it have no effect at all.

Thank all for any help.

it wont have any effect because thats for direct 3d and zsnes uses openGL/direct draw.

Anisotropic filtering is applied when a (part of a) texture is scaled back to a point where each texel occupies less than the area of an onscreen pixel. Obviously this never happens in any 2D emulators.

It happens rather frequently with mode7 zoomouts. But meh.

I thought we already established that this doesn't count? :p

Well I can see some people wanting AF for HLE-reproduced mode7 effects, really.
Even I like how a simple bilinear filter makes it look in snes9x.

Anyway that requires some HLE, since if you remain true to the hardware the ppus deal with which pixels appear and which don't, which makes AF moot, as you say.
