On exit of Zsnes, resolution and mouse pointer are stuck...

Post by jonnygus6869 »

I'm running ubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04. Each time when I exit zsnes fullscreen, the resolution doesn't return to pre-launch state, and the mouse pointer is stuck.

Zsnes is working perfect, other than when I exit. I tried google to no avail.

(I have a 9800 pro ati)

Anyone have suggestions for my problem? Thanks

Sounds like a driver/SDL issue. I suggest you try the open source ATI driver.

"Two steps forward, one mile back"

Ha, I had my htpc system setup perfectly, (except the before mentioned problem) and I went to change the driver, and WHAM, nothing works now...

Used to i'd get mad at these problems, but now I laugh and Google...

I'll report back once I get my driver issues issued out

I finally got the open source ATI drivers working AIGLX, and the problem wasn't fixed. Also, I have a new problem. There is "tearing" during gameplay.

Any other ideas? Thanks,

You need to enable VSync if you are using SDL 1.2.10 or later to remove the tearing. As for the lockup, I suggest you use a Windowed mode instead.

Windowed mode is not desirable as this is going to be on my TV as a HTPC, Is there any other way besides a window mode? I feel like i'm so close to finishing my project and now I can't get over this last hurdle.

Well, put it this way.. if this happens to other apps that use SDL, then it isn't a ZSNES problem.

This post is relevant; it seems Debian's zsnes release likes to abort on exit, which causes the exhibited behaviour. Follow the instructions in the aforementioned post and report back, please.
